Sunday might be a better bet if folks are available... give me a little bit of extra time to button up ALL THE THINGS. lol

I'M OFFENDED!
And find more things that need to be ordered? Because I'm pretty sure you still need to replace the seat bracket boosters and the aux. blinker fluid resevoir.

Yep, I will. I wouldn't want you guys to miss the look on my face when that one bolt I forgot to tighten starts ratlling around in the oil pan. lol

Welp it's been awhile since I've posted in here. Nothing to report but pics of the nice clean motor getting dirtier and dirtier as wires and hoses and shit get hooked up.

Finally got her pieced together enough to give the motor a test crank and get some oil flowing, and it looks like I have a starter problem :signs066:

I heard the solenoid click, immediately followed by a sound like the whine disposable cameras make when the flash is recharging. Probably had the key in the start position for 1/2 second or so. Poked my head under the car to look for any signs of a wiring problem, but I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Now all I get is a loud click from the solenoid. Blargh.

Welp, starter problem was just a ground strap that wasn't quite tightened down. Got oil pressure almost right away when I started cranking it, so I went ahead and hooked up the plugs and injectors. Fired right up with no drama!

I did notice my turbo oil drain was leaking just a tad where it goes back into the drain pan... it was thinner than oil and smelled like grease. I'm assuming it's just the grease they packed the bearings with when the turbo was rebuilt. Cinched it up a bit, so we'll see how it looks tomorrow.

Hell yeh! What are your mileage schedules for oil changes? Obviously I know you have a bit to do first, but you should be able to log miles pretty soon!

Woot!

I have to say, right when you get back out of the car, the look on your face is pretty funny. Like... "Woah, that all worked?"

lol, yeah I was a little surprised it started up so smoothly myself.

JT, I have to do a little research first, but probably 100-200 miles for break-in, then 1000 miles on good synthetic, then I'll start with a 3000 mile interval and have a UOA done at the first full-interval change. I'm planning on sticking to the factory spec'd 10W-30 at first, but I am considering going with 15W-40 long term, as my bearing clearances were on the loose side of nominal.

I'll have to see how oil pressures look though. I'm a little concerned that going from a BB turbo with a restrictor to a journal bearing turbo could make my pressures suffer a bit. Switching the feed from a -4 to a -3 line might help until I put together the fundage for a gt2860rs.

Yar. I have a piggyback AFC ready to go, but I didn't want to throw it into the troubleshooting mix in case the car didn't start or run right.
