I'll be there around 9 tomorrow, probably leave around noonish though. Jenny wants to go furniture shopping.

BAH!!!! Furniture shopping is only torture because manufacturers make so much hideous crap... and it can be fun to laugh at the ghetto, trailer, grandma, rustic, or country stuff that is strewn all over them.

Making your house a home is a great experience.

Turning wrenches in a garage is a much greater experience though. Especially when it's someone else's car... that way when you accidentally round the corners off an impossible to reach bolt, you can just say "whoops", grab another beer, and not worry about how the hell you're going to get to work on monday :D

lol... Well, I guess Becker is out for this trip at least. Jenny doesn't think we can afford to go all out on the first round and I'm inclined to agree at this point. We'll likely be just picking out a mattress for now, I hope.

This is the worst thing you could say:signs066: ...or go to work 7pm Saturday night (says a prayer, then another, makes false promises like "I'll be good from now on. I promise. Just make sure my car is drivable."

lolololhaha...Just bought a house, now spending money to put furniture in it! I love it...craigslist ftw...stock the whole house for $200...instead Jenny will drag you to furniture stores and "Ikea" to buy stuff that will fall apart in 6 months. ahhahahaha. It happens to us all.

When I bought a house, my entire paradigm towards furnishings altered. When I rented, it was an idea of stuff that was less expensive and more temporary. Now that I have a house, my sense of furnishing is far more permanent. I want stuff that will last me a lifetime or at least for many years so I avoid the stuff that isn't built very robust.

The idea of getting anything upholstered or padded from Craigslist or in any other way used that I don't know its life grosses me out!

grosses me out!
Haha, I know what you mean, but I'd defenetly buy dressers, entertainment centers, shelving, and a whole mess of other things from there, people basically give away brand new shit on craigslist...I would feel a very odd buying a matress/couch/anything I sit on...

You guys must remind me to tell my "matress story".

I avoid the stuff that isn't built very robust.
Another good point, if my wife wants to buy cheap shit I tell her "just take the money and burn it" because when you buy cheap shit you not only lose the money, but you also have to find a way to dispose of the cheap shit that just broke. Always better to buy quality stuff.

Heh.... you have to work at 7, eh? I hope some capable people are planning on staying longer than I can, because I'd hate to leave you with a disassembled car and no way to get to work!

FMIC, no problem. But if the nuts on the DP give us trouble, you may be putting yourself in a tight spot....

Yeah... I think she wants to go to Ikea to look for dining table chairs. We NEED a mattress, and we've got a dining room table with no chairs, so we should probably get some chairs too. We could also use a couple night stands. I wouldn't really have a problem getting the chairs from ikea, but there's no way I'm buying a Mattress from them.

we have 6 ikea dinner chairs, they are not HORRIBLE, but do need to be re-tightened about once a year...nothing ikea makes (that you sit on) is going to be good quality IMO. from ikea we have a bookshelf that is great, a mirror that is great, a chair that fell to pieces, kitchen chairs that are OK, and a coffee table which has been really good. And probly some other stuff that has been thrown away that I don't remember (oh, a silverware set that fell apart). ikea is the devil.

I did a dresser and two nightstands from IKEA for the guest bedroom, and they're good for the purpose. The dresser sags a little from the 13" TV I have on it and the drawer bottoms are that nasty MDF that just doesn't last. However, for the use it gets (occasional stuff from guests and linens in the bottom drawer), it will last me a long tome and I like the look. I also bought a couple lamps, some candleholders, linens, and a few other knickknacks from them... and they're all good for their purpose.

Whoops... I took this horribly off track. To get it back on...

I'll talk to Jenny tonight and see what exactly she wants to shop for. The plan was to go to Becker after helping you out, which is why I'd be leaving at noon. If we aren't driving all the way out there, I might be able to stay a little longer. Depends on what all she wants to buy tomorrow.

Kyle, do you SRSLY have MSP #2534 or are you just fucking around? Cause that would mean our cars came off the assembly line a few minutes apart! lol
