I have an idea.... you said your AC is shot anyways? Grab an accessory belt for a protege w/o AC and put that on, just bypassing the AC compressor pulley. That should give you plenty of clearance if I'm picturing things right.

Because we'd have had to gut and/or cut a bunch of AC lines. Which we could still do.... IIRC, removing the entire AC assembly nets you about 60 pounds.

I'M OFFENDED!
If it is, then gut away. Although, I think you were right, because hadn't it shot AC refridgerant all over the car already?

the a/c is good, the a/c LINE broke, ordered another one and went to Morries today to pick it up...but it was...gone? So I ordered ANOTHER one which will be here in a week then I need to get a refill of the coolant that leaked all over the car. The 3rd bungee seams to be doing it's job of keeping the piping out of the belt...we'll see if that holds up, I also added some rubber bumpers in 2 places where the piping was grinding other metal parts. this whole deal is just a work in progress folks.

and yes, the wife's been pissed for 2 weeks already with no a/c!

Gotcha. I was thinking that was an old occurrence that never got fixed. I'm seriously considering gutting my A/C though, since I used it maybe 3 times this summer.
