Been a number of years since I had any legit shine/"sippin' whiskey". My dad is a good ol boy from the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. It's the type of area where legitimately my last name can get me out of nearly any trouble. It's a whole lot of fun, assuming that's what you're into. Safe to say, if you went into his fridge and saw a bottle of Gilbeys Gin- it was not gin. HOWEVER- whoever he knew that had that cook recipe was a frickin GENIUS. Went over there one morning and he was havin' a sip- and I asked if I could try it.... being the curious one. He handed me a glass with a couple cubes of ice, and i poured myself an ounce or two of it. Smelled really clean, this batch was brewed with elderberries- so it had a hint of fruit. Went down SUPER smooth. Like WAY too smooth. I finished off my glass, and before I could get myself another, I was sitting in the driveway at 9:30am goin.... "How the fuck am I drunk right now? I had ONE DRINK". That stuff snuck up on me something FIERCE. I've honestly considered attempting to brew a batch for myself, out of curiousity. Shine is dangerous though, you get the wrong batch and it can kill you, quite literally. Get a good hooch man though, and you got some of the best whiskey you will ever have in your life.

I picked up a 6 pack of Lucid Air tonight. A very smooth wheat beer, very tasty. Glad to have it be a local.

Back on the topic of BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER. Yep, had a couple tonight. Ran out of Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout, so I went with Young's Double chocolate. Oh my damn. Pours like a guinness, had it in one of those shaker cans. Head builds out of the bottom, leaves about a finger of light chocolate head. Head refuses to go away. It's like "Fuck you, i'm the head of this beer, you shall kneel before me". Smells of chocolate and coffee. Drinks like a milkshake. Almost no carbonation, WICKED smooth. Finishes a lot like a stout with a hint of bitterness, but a lot of choco and coffee on that. I'm about 20 min after my 2nd one, and feelin' pretty good. It's only a 5.2% but i'm a lightweight due to my years of self inflicted sobriety, so i'm feelin pretty good right now. Still have the aroma of chocolate on my nose. It's not cloyingly sweet, but it's there. Another good recommendation by the folks at the Cellar in Eagan. I like this game.

Current collection inside. Maintains a home at or just below room temp with no light. One bottle of Darkness in the Fridge, that will be opened super bowl sunday or as a b-day drank!

Other bottles I've got. The Blue Moon is one of my favorites ever at this point, so tasty. If anyone finds one at a local spot, I'd gladly like to get my hands on a few more and would cover the $ for it.

I will keep my eyes open for that blue moon.

I'd trade some Smoke or WA for a couple bottles of the limited BM for sure. It's only 8-10 bucks a bottle, but was tasty!

So I saw some Delirium Noel at the local booze mart today. Anyone tried it? It was on clearance, but still $13 each!

Damn.... Banana Bread beer is expensive there or something. I pay about $3-$4 a bottle. I liked it.

The Rogue wasn't anything real special. Looked cool i guess.

    Ima throw down some quickies.

You like smoked sausage in liquid form? Drink the O'Fallon. You like things that taste good? Avoid the Newcastle Summer Ale.

You like overpriced good-but-completely-boring beers? Delerium Tremens is for you. At least it gives good head.

Drink this shit. Thank me later.

    Delicious.

    Horrendous.

Drinking pumpkin pie! Ehhh... ok for the novelty of it. Probably might drink another one of these next fall.

This was also fucking amazing. Sam Adams knows how to make wheats. VERY tasteful and unobtrusive cherry afternotes. Fuck yeah.
