That was my point. Being online-only benefits the player in exactly zero ways, and can only worsen the experience. As far as wanting to play without internet? How about on a laptop anywhere except for at home or at a wifi hotspot?Jay, the trent to online gaming is as much for DRM as it is for multiplayer.
The point is not that most people will have access to internet most of the time, it's that some people will not have access to the internet some of the time, and as a result cannot play with or without multiplayer functionality. For this potential loss of functionality, the player sees no benefit. The argument of "Oh quit whining and don't play if you don't have internet everywhere" is a poor and lazy one.
