Hey,

I seen a link to this forum on the RX7 Club and decided to join to meet some other local Mazda enthusaists.

My car is a 1988 RX-7 with an LS1-T56 and a large cam. I have a list to my build thread, pictures, and a link to my cardomain in the signature for the modifications of the car.

I look forward to meeting you all and maybe swapping parts (I have a TII parts car) and I have a SLEW of RX-7 parts from over the years, so let me know what you need!

You have a TII PARTS car?! I hope it was in reallyyyyy rough shape (happy to see you didn't swap the LS1 into that too).

Sounds pretty nice, couldn't see what you ran though. Looks clean too. Solid car.

TII parts car has a deer hit, but plenty of salvagable parts. Blown motor too.

I ran a 12.7 @ 119 MPH with a 2.3 60FT on 225/50/16 tires. I want to go back on drag radials.

You sir, have brought along what an rx7 should be. You get a gold star.
False. He built what the Corvette should have been lol.

As much as I want to hate you for doing this, I understand and still want a ride =)

I was considering a V8 swap in my FB at one point, but I simply dont have the funds

fail, what the FC should have been should be lighter, not a v8, i hate this place when it come to rotary talk

i think its funny that you mention car enthusiast with the ls1 conversion, rotor heads(like i) would not approve of this as it is blasphemy, but what it really comes down to is....

if you like your car the way it is, if you do, then i welcome you with open arms

I'll give you a ride. That's what actually made me a beleiver in the swap.

I still love the rotary and don't have a problem with it, other then it just wasn't for me in the end. Lack of local support, lack of tuners in the area, and lack of a Mazda dealership where I live (Bemidji, closest one is about 3.5 hours away).

When I'm getting 27 MPG and making 402HP on 91 octane, I know I made the right choice. Barking 4th gear at 100+ MPH always puts a smile on my face. Plus it reminds me to stop buying ricer tires ;).

If you want a ride or just to hang out, I'm definately down. I appreciate any RX-7, rotary or not.

Thanks for being cool about it. I was a little unsure about posting here with my swap, but now it's worth while.

I do like the rotary aspect still, despite my personal car not having it.

According to Wiki (cuz I'm no expert in this crazy mixed-up dorito world), the rotary-powered FC ranged from 2,625 - 3,071 lbs. So, really he's on the lighter side of that one, and potentially lighter depending on his trim. Granted, he likely doesn't have near 50/50 weight distribution anymore but with more than 2x the power I don't think handling was his first priority haha.

Got any more plans for it?

Ahh my next project car most likely :).

Welcome to the forums, nice build!
Thanks.

It's always for sale at the right price :). You can get this and the TII parts car and I have a shed full of rotary stuff.

How many driveshafts does one man need :).

Other swaps (LS1 in RX-7's) have actually showed inprovements in weight distribution. Either way I'm sure I'm close enough :).

2760 was my weight without me in it, which isn't bad considering my car has full interior, heavier TII rear, brakes, and of course the all aluminum LS1 with headers. I don't have AC or PS or anything emissions either (I do have a manual rack). At the time I did weigh in I had an aluminum hood. I also had heavier rims and tires then the stock SE had on in 1988.

I did weigh the car before and after: 2625, all stock SE with stock wheels and rims, RB header, PS, to a Corksport single cat-back. The rest was 100% stock without me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas.

2760 without me with my car as it currently sits. I've added some things so I'm sure it's about 2800. Still lighter then my friends TII who has 160HP (dyno proven) less HP then me and I won't even mention the torque.

Handling always has been a priority. I planned originally on going widebody with 17x10 FN01R-C's, but decided against it and tried to keep the stock body (other then a TII hood, lip, rims, and a fender roll). I'm sure I'll do suspension here soon, but there are other things Im tying up doing while I'm in school.

This is why LS1, which is a light, rather efficient engine, in a light car like a rx-7 is win.

Oh yeah its totally win, like hes shown it only adds like a hundred pounds or so to the car thanks to the rotary having so many parts on the block. Its just the ruining of the nature of the car that makes rotary enthusiasts mad
