Inside Man = great concept, poorly executed and mediocre writing.
I thought Spike Lee was a much better director than that. The characters were flat, not multi-dimensional at all. Denzel's girlfriend character made me laugh. All she does is appear in blip scenes waiting for him to come home and slowly getting more and more undressed. (gee wouldn't she be worried about her man working a dangerous hostage situation?) Then, they end the movie with a hat being thrown by her at the camera until the screen goes black. BOOOOOO!!!
i saw 30 days of night, it was a great movie until the end, the ending blew big chunks, but a pretty solid pic imo
sweent tod, i love tim burton, best director ever, it has his dark sides in the movie, and as i say johny depp is always at his best with tim burton, most people might not like it bc its a musical, but if you like tim butons film, you will love sweeny tod
I watched I Am Legend the other night. It was a solid "meh". From reading some reviews, I would probably give it a thumbs down if I had read the book before-hand. Sounds like they completely killed some of the plot points that made the book interesting.... Which I would believe, since there was very little to the movie besides an intriguing intro followed by Will Smith fighting generic CG vampire zombies.
I like the whole last man alive angle where he is living in an an empty city and he can just go around and use whatever car he wants and live in any building he wants. But the zombie part was lame even though I know it is an integral part of the plot I just didn't like it. So I would say that the story was half and half. Half great half wack.
i liked i am legend, i think they fucked up majorly in two aspects of the movie
1. marketing, its more of a zombie movie than anything
2. computer animation could have been a whole lot better
I liked most of I am Legend except the computer animation vampire/zombies. There was no reason they couldn't have used make-up, etc. and made it feel much more real.
Saw 21 last night. Movie wise I thought it was really good. To me it's what a movie should be, they give you a little insight to see how it may end, and then change it up. Overall I really enjoyed the movie and kate Bosworth is smoking hot!
I just watched Awake last night and I wasn't impressed at all. There were a couple of mild twists, but nothing worth noting other than a little minor nudity for Jessica Alba. She's smokin' hot but seems stuck in the same type of role a lot because of that.
I watched There Will be Blood. And it was deffinently strange. The main charicter is an oil man and as the plot progesses you see he doesn't ever actually pay people what he promises them. So you might say he is more of a glorified con man. But that con man angle is not really what the film is built on. The film is more there to show his genuine hate for other people. He builds up his hatreds little by little he said in the film and boy does this guy hate people. Eventually his hate builds up to the point of driving him mad. Overall a somewhat depressing film yet interesting at the same time. Some of the plot element don't seem to be explained well enough but for the most part you understand what is going on. I give this a one thumb up one thumb down.
the kingdom, fucking great, the first 15 minutes will keep you with your mouth open, and the last 30 minutes will keep you on the edge of your seat, must see
finally got around to Shawn of the Dead tonight - funny and not as gory as i thought it was going to be. Simon Pegg is a funny bastard. Now i have to pick up Hot Fuzz since it know the kind of comedy to expect. And his g/f in the movie was rather attractive too.
I forgot about this thread, but I saw 21 last weekend and I would recommend it. It was nothing amazing, but it wasn't bad, its a good movie to go see if you just want to go see a movie or you need something to do.
