Looks like i'll have to remove the coolant hoses going thru the firewall. If i do this, will coolant spray everywhere?
Your best bet is to clamp them off before you pull them, but you're still going to get the entire heater core draining out the tubes sticking from the firewall. Even if you went and drained the coolant, you're still going to have to deal with a few cups more than likely. I used to be super careful about draining coolant before I did any work like that, but now I just throw a big flat rubbermaid tub (like the under-bed storage) below where I'm working and yank the hose off.

Is it possible for a coil pack to have the correct resistance reading but still be bad? Both of mine read 12.6kΩ but one is clearly not putting out spark.
Yes but not likely. What year is this thing again? It has two coils, trying to remember how spark is really controlled.

New coil pack is installed. Plug wires are replaced and sealed with dielectric grease. Still no spark. Looks like its time for a carbureted, distributor ignited v8 swap. I don't care if it only makes 200hp. I'm done with electronics.

The plug pins all have proper voltage and continuity. I ordered a replacement CAS the other day so i might have her running by week's end. I went with the magnetic one from the NB yattas.

There's literally nothing else it can be. New plugs, new wires, new coil pack, good CAS plug, good CPU, timing belt is still there...

are you sure the nb one works with the na?
Yes. While the NA used an optical sensor, and the NB used a magnetic sensor, the actual electrical output is identical. The physical shape of the two units are also interchangeable. The only difference is that the plug sticks out at a slightly different angle, but not enough to cause wiring problems.
