Bad news everyone, the miata died. I was driving along and it quit. There's fuel pressure at the engine, in turns over just fine, there's good spark, but dry spark plugs. Is this a bad fuel injection relay? I don't want to just buy & try because its a 60 dollar part. Any ideas?

There's plenty of fuel pressure at the engine. I'd be shocked if a clog formed right at the fuel rail. I tried to pull off an injector plug to test it with the voltmeter, but i broke the plastic tab and didnt want to force it. The other 3 were just as stuck. I ordered a relay from Oreileys, they said i can install it and see if it works, if not i can return it as long as it "looks like it hasnt been installed."

Update: its a bad coil pack. Full spark on 2 plugs, no spark on the other two. Anyone have a used 1.6l coil pack to sell? New ones are $130. :( Probably should have checked that before i set the engine bay ablaze...

and the coilpack was the reason that the car wouldnt starti in the first place, the only thing he had to replace i believe was a melted pcv valve

I really don't know how fire got out of the cylinders and into the intake manifold. But yeah the worst of it was some melting of the injector wires, and my pcv valve completely melted away. Wires are salvageable, new valve was $1.99. The fire was completely caused by us being idiots, not by a malfunction.

Congrats on getting back up. Sounds like y'all will have to help me put my 1.6 back together and in the car so you can learn a thing or two :D

Anyone know how to get the coil pack mount off? There's the two main bolts on the top and then some kind of weird long nut on the bottom, facing into the engine block, 2" from the firewall. Looks like its impossible to get at without pulling off the valve cover, or God forbid, the head. Or i could just do a firewall delete.

Club roadster question. I know you wont have to take off the VC or the head. It's probably welded on from the fire.

Looks like i'll have to remove the coolant hoses going thru the firewall. If i do this, will coolant spray everywhere?

Is it possible for a coil pack to have the correct resistance reading but still be bad? Both of mine read 12.6kΩ but one is clearly not putting out spark.
