2012 Wednesday meets-

mndsm

I'M OFFENDED!
There are SEVERAL groups that show up there. MNSubaru, MNGarageGeeks, Rx7Club, IMStanced- and probably more. It was a decently full house last night, and that was on short notice.

Guessing it is a 'love/hate' situation for Sonic. :) Good for business but tough to keep everyone in check sometimes.

Surprisngly, no. They do a really good job of policing themselves, and Sonic seems thankful for the business. Hard to beat a guaranteed 750$ in sales or so in one night. More if more cars. I was rather impressed.

^ a lot of groups do. I do have to agree with Tom. And not just because it's close to me. With the whole "trying to expand our site" thing going on, sonic would provide some good exposure and replenish our name.

I may not have much more than a stock 3 but I will definitely try and make a meet-up or more. :)
One good thing about our group is you don't need to have a super over the top car to show up and shot the breeze with us.

I am rolling to the meets this year in my 06 VW Rabbit and proud of it.

Yeah. We don't care about stock vs. not stock. My ms3 was stock for two years. Not so much anymore lol.

Didn't see it posted but noticed the reference to 'some other club's bandwagon'. Pretty sure the MNSubaru group meets at the same Sonic in Bloomington on Wednesday evenings.
No one had meets there before March 2011 ish, I have pics of us with a whole 8 cars when we started going there, parking under the covered areas. Then double parking as more people came, then moving to the middle large parking lot. Spreading the word to other groups is what we wanted to do. Because it creates a nice diverse meet. And everyone sees/learns something or someone new :)

MNSubaru, i'mSTANCED, RX7Club, Club Roadster, etc etc. All show up because we let them all know we were starting a meet there on Wednesdays. I posted on all those forums every Wed to make sure those groups know that the meet is a go. :) That is the point of this big Garage Geek meet. We don't cater to a certain car/look/style.

As Tom mentioned. Location and parking space are huge factors to why the Sonic was picked. And it works well for us and I'm sure it will for a long time. I talked to 3 managers yesterday, they like us coming, it is good on business. And the one burn out is being addressed by another person.

I love seeing you guys there no matter what you decide for the future. :)

I had a good time last night, it's probably been almost 2 years since I last made a meet. I'll stand behind Tom's decision to roll with Sonics for Wednesday night meets, it makes sense from an exposure stand point, and is about as central as it can be. Everyone behaved themselves and enjoyed the unseasonably awesome weather!

This forum needs a meet like this and it's a great opportunity.

Thanks for having us, Joelle.

So read the whole post this time. I miss porkys cruises. I'm right off of Snelling and University. It was good times walking down to Uni. With that said, Sonic isn't super far from my coaching job. I wear a flat bill, but not doing burnouts. lol

Yeah, we ALL miss Porkys. I could go on a rant about how St. Paul fucked the dog on that one- but its been said a million times before. We as the current "cruise" generation do have a rare opportunity- create THE new cruising spot in MN. I doubt my kid will see that in his lifetime. He'll sure as hell see plenty of cruises/meets though.

As has been stated, you can't really 'encroach' on sonics 'club' meet. Seeing as there are 5 or so forum groups that show up, with only maybe 1/4 of them actually on MNGG's forum. MNMazda would be another forum/club that meets up at the new 'spot', simple as that. And nothing is stopping you guys from saying we want to meet in SLP this week, whoever wants to go there goes.

I guess if it works it works, for me it's even less appealing than Porkys was but it's not going to be for everyone and you can't argue with the volume that shows up. I went through this same building process when I started DSMStyle (now MitsuStyle) and helped start this site. Family and Work has allowed me to reverse roles to being one who looks to enjoy rather than setup. For me I will be spending more time enjoying getting behind the wheel of the car when I have a chance this summer. If i make meets, I make meets. I'll probably try to get to Sonic at least once or twice this year just to enjoy some new cars and see some old faces.

I'd love to come out every wed night for the meets but my work schedule wont let me. :( Any future days besides wed's nights??

We do a lot of BBQ's, install days, etc throughout the year. There should be an events thread somewhere...... I'd check that. I'm lettin' Hayden run that so we'll see what happens.

I feel the love! Got a little teary eyed :D

Hoping the weather holds out tonight. Either way we make it work and will be at Sonic still the snow falls again.
