JT's selling his car?

mndsm

I'M OFFENDED!
So- JT dropped in and posted that his car was sold. He also posted the same on his Facebook. I support all wild rumors until he comes up with a valid excuse.

I heard JT's car is so fast that his mind warped back in time and he's posting about his previous car being sold.

So here's the scoop. I was in the MSF bitchbox and a guy just randomly said 'hey, anyone got a speed6?' I said yeah, he said his buddy was lookin' for one and I should e-mail him. So we exchanged a few e-mails and I threw out an $18k price (yeah, thinking this guy would be high to buy it for that). He said $17k and I said no way, but $17,500 would be the lowest I'd take considering I'm by no means a motivated seller and I'm very content with the car. He said he'd get the financing deal started and that's when it really hit me. He's going to call me tomorrow and I'll know a little more about this. Not sure how serious he is, but he sure seems to be pulling out the stops.

He's from Michigan and said he'd drive here for it. Trust me, I'm still on the fence about it, but for $17,500 I'd have about $4,500 left over from the deal and that's a decent beater for winter and I can save up some dough, pay off some loans, and get a fun new and much higher-potential project come spring.

I gotta admit it's been pretty funny seeing the hype about this, you guys are so cute. I get a text from Tom, numerous replies on facebook, comments in the chatbox, and even my own thread! I almost wish this was just a huge joke, but man it's pretty tempting to sway the other way and see a C5Z at the end of the tunnel here.

Will update as things progress...

edit: I was at softball until 11 or so and that's why you guys haven't heard from me. I will NOT buy a Honda. That was hilarious lol. I want V8 powah with RWD! I also am not posting shit on any other forum, as I know they don't give 2 shits about me and vice-versa. My car was nothing special, and you guys are my friends so you're the only ones who know about this.

Sorry bud, but I'm pretty sure he's pulling your chain. If the guy were local, maybe. But he's gonna come from MI to pick up your car? That means he's looking nationally. Just a quick search on autotrader turns up 24 MS6s under 16k asking price, many of them with less than 40k miles.

Meh, no harm no foul. Like I said I'm certainly no motivated seller. I kinda sold him on the mods, and swayed him away from a fully built car done by PG. He bit every word I said, and he definitely doesn't know much, or anything, about the MS6's. My only back-ups to why I think he's at least sorta legit is that he's buddies with a guy I kinda know. I was going to ask the guy I know from MSF a few things about his friend but I never got around to it today.

Like I said though, I could care less if it sells. I still love the damn car.

Parnell - No Coblow SS for me, that's the second time I've had to tell you. It's not RWD, and it doesn't have a V8. You fail.

As much as I would LOVE for you to round up a Z06..... the guy sounds like a stroker. Do you know how old he is? Age can tell you a lot, whether he is a serious buyer or just having pipe dreams.

But do any of them look like JT's car? I doubt it.

I've flown half way across the country twice to buy a car, one of which WAS more than the car was really worth but hey, I wanted it lol. I certainly wouldn't go making any purchases counting on the deal to go through (not that JT is going to) but I also wouldn't say it's total BS, it could happen.

JT's car certainly looks unique, and he's got a pile of cash in the mods. It's good-to-go w/ 300awhp. You don't get that from autotrader. If a stock MS6 goes for 16k on the usual places. I car with like 5k in mods could go for 17.5k to an enthusiast.

I'd still be plenty wary though.

I sent the guy I know an e-mail and asked about his buddy so I'll see where this takes me.

I'm definitely not getting my hopes up on anything though. I definitely wouldn't buy anything until it sold and the deal was done too. Even then, it's tough to look at something I built and even consider letting it go.

Response from the guy I know:

I have worked with him for the last 2 years and the last 8 months on a Cisco team. He is a very honest guy. I want to say he is 34ish. I know he has bought cars out of state before and used the same method of payment. I personally don't buy cars I cant drive first, but to each there own i guess, lol. He really was interested in that built MS6, but he is now leaning away from it because of a few things the guy was misleading about. For example, he sent the receipt for the engine build and it was dated 2007, which is fine except for the fact that he claimed he got the work done, but it was actually the previous owner.
Anyways, he digs my MS3 and thats why he is so interested in a nice MS6. He sounds pretty serious about getting one. He said he is deciding between your car and the built one, so that leads me to believe he is serious for whatever thats worth to you.

So it's like an escrow service that also does financing? More importantly, is your car paid off? It's going to be a lot harder to sell it if it's not.

Car is not paid off. Should I request he go through the bank like any other normal human being?
