I'M OFFENDED!
Dumb question, why 17"? I only say this because 16" steelies already equipped with tires are somewhat plentiful around here for some reason, and after the purchase and mounting, and remounting of summer tires to say a stock 17" Mazda5 wheel, you could have a whole set of steelies and meats, ready to rock.
Or go to Discount Tire and buy them there. At least all the rotating and swapping of tires is free for life then 
I spent $900 on 17" winter rims and tires (not the cheapest they had) but now I just go in there when ever and they will swap tires around for me for free. No appt for rotations needed

I have the 17s from the 3 still which are not in the best shape, figured they would make good winter wheels

Well, I did what you said Tom. I picked up a set of used 205/55-16 Toyo Observe Garit HT on Honda Pilot Steelies (16x6.5 +45) off of craigslist that had the center bore machined to work on a 929. They have about 10/32nds of tread.
