NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER buy cables from BB or any other big box retailer. No matter how much of a deal they tell you you're getting, the only difference is the grit of sandpaper they are using to buttraep you with.

If you haven't already opened it, return that shiz and go to monoprice like colin said.

xbillionty on the cables, I get mine from newegg or monoprice.

Also have to agree with the price being open box... try to knock it down a bit more and if possible bring cash. Any place you can negotiate with will like to know they aren't paying the VIAS/MC fees on the purchase.

Unless you are getting a nice warranty on the TV. Open box stuff scares me a bit.

We have only done open box once on a TV but it was a $300 32inch Samsung and we got the massive warranty on it cheap cheap.. Otherwise Buying new is the way to go.

i'll try to get a better discount if i pay the rest in cash. without the cables it's $612 (cables are regularly priced $50, on sale for $18). And i will see what kind of warranty they will offer with the fact that it's open box. If anything the HDMI cable will be temp and can order something from newegg or monoprice down the road.

my PC may be a dinosaur, but i do have HDMI capable equipment - the monitor i have is HDMI as well as the DVD player that i currently own (5-disc sony, upscales to 1080P), not to mention at some point i will be upgrading the Beast once again before i start a build on an actual gaming computer and use the big black box as a media server.

See what happens when you listen to us? We don't try and steer you bad, promise.

Also on the HDMI cable, temporary means squat. You won't be able to return it, so I'd just not get it, and order from monoprice. But what you do with that is up to you.

Honestly $18 isn't bad for an HDMI cable when you figure in shipping + waiting for it from monoprice. Also I agree I think you can do better than that open-box price ultimate is offering you. I would suggest watching fatwallet and slickdeals for a truly good deal unless you are set on getting something asap.

Colin--- DONE. ordered. with HDMI cables. Ultimate Elec wasn't too pleased when they saw i found a better deal, but it happens...transaction was voided from yesterday, and that has been ordered. :D

Man, I'm tempted to pick up that TV as well, very solid price for a nice 40" tv.

Hell yeah it is. I paid a little less than 600$ for its predecessor, and I've been quite happy with it. I'm tempted to order a pair of em- just so I can have TV for TV and TV for gaming next to each other.

has anyone bought stuff from monoprice.com? that's the first time I've ever heard of the website and the prices are just crazy for cables.

I've bought USB, HDMI, Cat5, and miscellaneous other cables from them. No problems yet, and the basic cables seem to be of reasonable quality.

Some of the converter cables (e.g. I bought a USB - parallel converter) are semi-janky, straight from China devices of dubious quality... but for the price, they will be the first place I look for most of that stuff.
