The Music Thread

This was fun on another forum. Me being a music whore, I love to research new bands/artists/groups and change out the CD player.

So, what are you guys/gals listening to now? Everyone's got a unique taste in music, so it's fun to bring it all together.

My favorite globally known band (they're HUGE in the UK) is 36 Crazyfists. http://www.myspace.com/36crazyfists

Locally, Johnnyrook is my favorite band in MN. If any of you ever want to check them out let me know, they put on an insane show!

Post up myspace links (assuming you have one; I only use mine for music), or search for these bands on Google and you can listen to them on Pure Volume or similar sites.

I'm still stuck on the Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold newest albums, as well as Sevendust's too.

^ Going from "The Curse" to "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" didn't work for me. I'm suck on that album...

Sevendust's was surprising MUCH better than "Alpha" and "Next," but pales in comparison to their self-titled. Maybe I'm biased to stuff that's not on the radio lol.

It took me a LONG time to by Lead Sails and Paper Anchors and even after that the first few times listening to it I was like no way. But when put on shuffle with their other two albums it is a nice mix to the old.

I hear you about Sevendust, but each new record they come out with they seem to get tighter and tighter for those 30 seconds where they actually play really heavy. That is about all I really enjoy from their newer cds.
Their drummer has moved into one of my all time favorites.

110 HP of FURY!
I really need to listen to more "smaller" and "local" bands as well. That being said, I'm a big Linkin Park fan, and also really enjoy Live, My Chemical Romance, Ditrurbed, and the Foo. I like any mucis though I can drive to.

Last night in stead of taking a short way home I followed Nate home for a bit up to 694 just to geta longer drive in with the tunes blaring. I think I have Coheed and Cambria, Incubus,Tantic, and Stabbing Westward on the newest CD.

Very solid stuff, I used to be HUGE into underground stuff, but now most of it has surfaced.

From your tastes here, I'd consider The Receiving End of Sirens, From Zero, Chasing Victory, Dead Poetic, A Thorn For Every Heart, Boy Sets Fire, Armor For Sleep, Emery, Echo 7, and Silverstein.

That is.. if you're motivated enough to actually look for the music (most of it should be on myspace).

I'm mostly into the harder stuff, but my tastes are changing quickly. If anyone likes the hardcore genre, let me know!

Charge THIS!!
a little bit of everything here. linkin park, disturbed, gravity kills, crystal method, STP, and most of what is heard on 93X.

as far as rap/hip-hop goes i lean more towards demigodz, styles of beyond, fort minor, legendary K-Otix, Royce da 5'9", Miri Bin-Ari (hip-hop violinist).

I won't go into my country/bluegrass favorites...

As far as local artists go i've gotten into Quietdrive, Brother Ali, and Alison Scott. Saw them last year at the mcnally smith mn music festival and have been hooked ever since.

Long time NIN fan, KMFDM/MDFMK, stabbing westward, gravity kills, static X. Now I've been kind into trance. Also big Tool, Chevelle, SoaD, korn, Rammstien, Breaking Benjamin, disturbed. Then theres the softer stuff: killers, nickleback, papa roach.

Legendary Status!
More and more metal by the day, angrier music mostly.
However I've been hooked on Apocalyptica as of late, favorite local band will be Blue Felix, hands down.

And anyone who likes the band TOOL, which I freakin' worship, should go see the local cover band 10,000 days. They are so good that if you close your eyes, you think you are at a TOOL concert. I've been to see them twice and will go back and see them again and again. - highly recomended!

I'M OFFENDED!
Funny you should mention them... a friend of mine from work is kinda friends with the lead singer of 10,000 days. I had heard that they were taking time off because dude was going to be on Ultimate Fighter or something.

I'd go see "Throw the Fight", as long as they sound good live.
Sometimes bands like that have a problem pulling that off live...

Here is a few I came across tonight... I can't stand this song... but this isn't too bad...

Johnnyrook is AMAZING live, I haven't seen TTF, but I'd totally be up for it too.

Yes I hate that song too, and I loved the Barker remix.

To Ivan, if you like Skindred, check out HED P.E., Insolence, or Third Strike. Youbtube them or check them out on MySpace.
