what car do you have? in a miata, the cars standard height is lower than a lot of other cars after springs/coilovers. i have snow tires all around plus 100 pounds of kitty litter in the trunk, still got hopelessly stuck :(

Depends a lot on driving conditions. In fresh snow, a good set of snow tires will often let you plow through some seriously deep stuff. If it's the dense, icy, packed stuff that is left over after being plowed around and driven through, by the time you're up to your undercarriage (if that), you're effed.

Yeah, partly because of MN winters but mostly because the sheer amount of job opportunities out in Los Angeles that I'm moving there soon.

Add AWD to a balanced car with low center of gravity traction/stability control and blizzaks and then what do you get? lol
A dream come true? Too bad it's just a dream.

I don't think there is a car with a lower center of gravity than a Leaf, other than maybe a Tesla. Yea, once the snow is higher than your undercarriage, not even snow chains will help you. Found that out on our way back from Jackson Hole a few years back. That's the real advantage of an SUV, it's ride height.
