Question on Drywall and Mudding

So I've sent a few feelers out via CraigsList to Drywall the Celining of the garage. Thus far it looks like the price range for a ceiling of my size is going to cost $350 TOPS to to the ceiling and mud it. The upside is the ability to insulate it at that time as well and then could open the door to painting the garage walls and ceiling.

Cost wise, is this something other would suggest doing before winter came about?

The price is good enough that I would do it for my own garage This is something I want to do too. I'd be interested in the cost and if you liked the guy who does it. I hate working with people i don't know Use that as an incentive to hire someone, they will get more business from us if the price is right.

None, but I can tell a lot about some just by the questions they ask, how their quote ranks, and if they are up front about giving several refernces that I will call.

Unfortunatly I can't do that type of work, even with gloves and such I'd end up breaking out like a mofo working with that shit. Wood work i'm ok with, but I'd rather pay for drywall work. In this case, entertainnig quotes on drywall, mudding, and painting.

$350 seems dirt cheap for the size of your garage. The pricing is effected by how smooth you expect the joints to be when they're done. 1 coat sanded means you'll be able to see the joints when you paint, so if you're going for a perfect ceiling make sure you tell them that. It'll cost more, but you'll only be doing it once, so perhaps it's worth it. I had mine done with 2 coats and sanded and it turned out pretty well. The guys I interviewed each mentioned that most interior ceilings are given 3 coats.

But like Pete said make sure that is for a flawless finish but even if you need to pay more for that like adding $100 it would be totally worth it for the size of your garage.

That is a good point the ceiling should be done first then the walls. But i would worry too much about it if you don't.
