Possible future 6 owner...

Hello, my name is Clayton. I have decided that its time to get a new car and am looking at buying my friends fiance's '05 Mazda6 hatch. It just rolled 50k yesterday and is in really good body and mechanical shape. I was with her when they bought it and fell in love with it myself. The only things it does not ahve that I would have wanted is leather and a moonroof, but I will live without them. The price they will want for it is good so I'm not worried about that. I currently have a 2000 Mercury Mystique, which I wanted to do some mods with one day, but I have decided that I want something else. I know mister ZoomZoomDiva from contour.org and have seen some Mazda6's around and really like them.

Anyways, that's my story. The immediate things I would do with the car would be HID's for it and I'm going to look for some gunmetal with chrome lip wheels for it, as the car is charcoal gray. I am open to hearing negatives and positives about the car.

Oh and I hail from Duluth. I have no idea if anyone on here is from this area yet.

I'M OFFENDED!
Well, James can tell you more about the 6s hatch than any of us, but it's decent car as far as I'm concerned, and it's an excellent color you've got chosen.

Yes I actually do like the color. Normally if I want a dark color I go with black but I like how the 6 looks in the dark gray. The one thing I'm upset about is that I cant put the stereo I want to into the car. The one I currently have in my Mystique has bluetooth and I have an iPhone. In June I will be able to play my music via bluetooth through the Sony I currently have but not in the Mazda. :(

Another thing I like is the windows are already tinted 35% I believe it is, so I wont have to go through the pain of having them done also.

Can anyone tell me what the bolt pattern is on the 6?

The 6 is a 5x114.3 lug pattern. I think it can use mostly the same offset / size wheels as the speed3, I had my 18x7.5 +45 offset wheels on my 6 hatch and moved them right over to my speed3 when I bought it with no problems.

As I said above I had a 6s Hatch before my Speed3 and liked the car for the most part. What engine and transmission combo does the one you are looking at have?

HID's are highly reccomended, you already have tint and it sounds like you are working on the wheels, those would have been my first 3 reccomendations for the car.

Hmm It's hard to look for rims when I don't know what to look for. I want to get some wheels and tires that are going to be almost as wide as possible without having to worry about rubbing or anything. I like wider tires and wheels on a lower stance car. I know on the current car I have I like how 17's look on it but I have no idea yet for the 6.

The 6 they have is a 3.0/Auto. James mentioned that they came out with the 6 speed auto in that year? I haven't the slightest if it is the 6 speed or not. I have to do some checking on the car yet.

Hello! Anyway, leather is a doable still. leatherseats.com is one good place, and my friend Marcy had her 2005 sedan done through Walser.

I also think the CP-E intake is a must. I know you were saying the risk of water being sucked in... however, it's much harder to do than it sounds... and this filter isn't much lower.

Yep that has a 6 speed (is what was in my car). You are pretty limited in power mods you can do on the car. But if you are okay with the power it makes, you can do some appearance and suspension stuff and have a damn fine car.

I had 18x7.5 +45 offset wheels w/ 225/40/18 tires on my 6 before I sold it, it needed to be lowered IMO but other than that I was happy w/ the size of wheel and tire. I would probably have had to roll the fenders w/ a drop. I don't know that it really pays to go much wider than a 225, you might be okay with a 235 if you roll the fenders and have the right offset wheel but not sure its worth the hassle. I suspect mazda6club or 6crew have a 'post your wheels' thread that might give you some ideas.

Hmm.. Well there is a place in town that can do the seats for a decent price. They will also add heat to them. I would want to do a two tone if I get leather put in, but cant decide what colors would look good.

As far as the intake, Ill have to look into it. The price kind of made my eyes bulge though.

Also, the other thing I would want to get for it would be some LED smoked tail lights. I tried to google some but there wasn't much.

I have 235/45-17's on mine... and it does require a fender roll... and a drop is nice.

17x7.5 50 offset http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_gar...perturismo+GT&wheelFinish=Bright+Silver+Paint

The CP-E isn't cheap, but it's good for about 15hp 15tq and the headers say they are similar (for $1000+). True, the car wont be like Matt's GTO or even the Speeds out there, but it can add to the feel. It also improved my fuel mileage 5%.

Welcome.

I just happen to have a set of stock speed6 Wheels sitting in my garage right now. They are a direct bolt on. No rolling.

I am also willing to refinish them in whatever color you choose.

Just pm me for a Price.

Welcome Again.

Hmmm.. Well there's a guy on CEG that does powder coating. I am thinking those would like nice in gunmetal with like a non gloss finish.

Yes I'm a member of D-SCE. I went to a couple meets last fall but I haven't been on the site in a few months. And yeah I'm quite a car nut. Haha! I'm sure I have seen you around, and will in the future. What part of town do you live in? I live in the Duluth Heights area.
