Hey good to see ya registered man. I kinda figured you might catch some ricer flack for the hood scoop lol. Seems Mazda owners and DSM'ers have one thing in common!! We'll see what we can do to make that sucker funtional.

Yup, I figured it would be nice to get onto another forum anyways. The hood scoops will look sick I think personally, its not that big.

I've never seen a hoodscoop look good, but if it's functional... I guess it's your car and your money. I prefer the vented hood appearance over something interfering with the lines and visual flow.

Are you intending this to draw in air for the TMIC or an intake?

Before you cut into your hood, you should know that a lot of engineering went into the current ducting system, and it works very well for it's purpose. A lot of people smarter than I about fluid dynamics and airflow have discussed this and pretty much universally agreed that unless it was quite large, a hood scoop is going to provide inferior airflow to the TMIC. The main reason is that the current duct opening is located at the highest pressure area on the front of the car--directly on the nose. A hood scoop, though it may have a larger opening, is in a much lower pressure area, and will generally see poorer airflow.

If you're going FMIC or plan on using it to draw air for the intake, proceed. Though, I have to imagine re-purposing the stock ducting would be very effective at providing cool air to a SRI.

What dmention7 said. The factory ducts work quite well as it sits. Even if you're considering using the scoops for an intake I'd consider using the stock scoops for that, as you'll get better flow and not have to hack your hood apart. Vented would be nice just to cool the engine bay down a bit, but with the shape of our cars the scoop would have to be so tall in order to be half ways functional (think extended STI scoop size) that I think it'd look silly.

But, it is your car and maybe I'm totally wrong and it'd turn out looking cool.

I dig the wheels! Simple 5 spoke designs always look good on anything. I'm not seeing pics of the hoodscoop. Link? Also, I have a Cobb AP for sale for $600 if you want one. PM me if interested.
