Check out the SURE website. They have some great mods for decent price. I'ce got their intake and I love it. Better throttle response and a good power increase.

No street unit is just a vendor I believe. I've got the intake, short shift plate, and shifter bushings and they are all great. And they make stuff for standard 6's, 3's, 2's, and cx-7's now also.

Both sites have Casselberry, FL addresses and the logos are awfully similar.

Tint is going on early April. I know 50% is legal tint and if you want darker you need a prescription from an eye doctor. I heard that many hatchbacks are considered 'wagons' and if it is listed on your title as such, you are able to go darker than 50% behind the front doors. Anyone with a M3 hatch have their car listed as a wagon on the title?

I would like to go with 40% on the two front windows and 30-35% on the rest but might be willing to settle for 45% all around. Not sure 45% will be sufficient though. Thoughts?

Anyone been pulled over for their tint? If is was darker than legal, did you have a prescription? What was the outcome?

20% all around on 2 of my cars. Been pulled over for it once. Cop wrote me a ticket, I went and got a script, ticket discharged. Another time, pulled over by a trooper for doing WAY over the limit, he asked about my windows. I produced my script from my glove box, that was the last he mentioned it. One way around the MN law- get it tinted in WI. Or get a script, because the cops can cause all kinds of hell for you if they feel like it.

I'm 34% all the way around(tint was on there when I bought it). Friend of my is a trooper and he checked it for me. My next eye appt, I will be asking for a script. I have light colored eyes and pretty easy to make the claim.

Many many tickets for 20% on various cars lol - I currently have 30-35% on the Speed6 (not sure exactly) and haven't been bothered yet. I've heard scripts can be harder to get for darker than 35% but some (Tom I know) have gotten them for 20%. I know a few people that have gotten hassled for 30-35% but it seems FAR less frequent than for 20% or darker.

The Speed3 / Mz3 is not classified as a wagon/van/suv - so you would be looking at a court battle if you wanted to go down that path (and like you said it's only then legal for windows behind the driver). You'll probably spend more in court/legal/etc fee's and time to fight that then you would paying a couple tickets.

My favorite part was the one cop that pulled me over for it- "Who did the window tint" "I bought it that way sir" "I have a hard time believing that any dealer would actually sell a car like this- but ok" Story was 100% true. I just left out the part where I had initially leased the car (Some financial frankensteining actually saved me some money doing it this way, because they had the dep. value of the car set a lot lower than it was worth, allowing my buyout to be something like 4k cheaper than a comparable used one, and I'd been the only driver of the car since new) and had the window tint put on the car while under lease. When I "Purchased" the car- tint was already on it. Dealer sold it to me and everything. In fact- i'm pretty sure the car was at home in my garage and I was driving the MINI the night I "bought" it.

The 'wagon' classification was just something I had heard. I hadn't confirmed it though. I don't think I'd try and use that argument in court. LOL!

Taking into consideration the comments that have been posted, I may shoot for 40% in the front and 35%(maybe 30%) on the back windows and hatch. If I get pulled over and ticketed I will just have to go and get the prescription I guess. I don't know the last time I saw an eye doctor though.

Tint is going on tomorrow afternoon. (Flawless Front Ends and Tint) Went to the eye doc (Savage Family Eye Clinic) yesterday and obtained a prescription for as low as 20%. Thinking 40% front driver/pass, 35% on the rest. Looking forward to getting it done!
