My WRX, roof spoiler fail...

On my way back from WI. Going 75mph and I hear. BOOM! I thought I blew a tire, but no it was just my roof spoiler getting ripped off.

This was on when I bought the car and I HATED it, but this is not how I wanted it removed. Apperantly the previous owner bolted ONE side and DOUBLE STICK TAPED!!!!! the other side. Well double stick tape is strong, but not that strong.

I have owned the car (daily driver) since Sept of last year.

Man, that really sucks. Now you either gotta bolt the thing in on the other side, or deal with the holes on the drivers side if you remove it.

any damage to the car?
It put a dent in that panel that the spoiler was attached to. Any one who has really explored my car knows that it is full of dents and dings and scratches. I cleaned off the tape/glue as best as I could and created a smooth surface and that side. I pulled out the bolt on the other side and had to sand the bolt hole smooth (there are two bolt holes on that side). The bolt that held the spoiler after the one side let go pulled out the bolt hole and f'd up things pretty good.

The fix? two vinyl decals, one on each side. (yes I'm serious) And the spoiler? it is destroyed and hangs in my garage as art for the time being.

Pics of the carnage after you cleaned it up? Use white vinyl decals that are just larger then the hole to cover them. Should look fine.

O and CF fail wing failed.

I have a shit load of paintless dent repair plugs for drilling doors, in all shapes and sizes. They are nice and flush and you could just paint them up if you want, and they keep any moisture out too. Ill be at porkys the next couple weeks and could throw some various sizes in my car if you want.

I have a buddy with a 220v welder, bet he would be willing weld it up and grind it smooth for a $50 or something reasonable like that
