I'd like to get in on this, but I'm lost on some of what's being said.

Maybe it's because I've never played it online?

Let me see if I can help a brotha out- Cause I imagine that I know where he's going.

PP=Performance points- Basically it's a set number that uses voodoo or some shit to calculate your cars total performance points based on what it started out as (An Evo will have more base PP than a bone stock Civic) and what you've strapped to it for mods. Basically we're saying we don't care what the car started out as, but you're allowed a maximum all said and done and sitting at the start line of 520pp. Where it gets tricky is the no ECU tuning thing. There's sort of a glitch in GT5 that allows you to sandbag a car down to whatever the max limit. This gets ugly because while it limits the power cieling, it effectively gives you a powerband about 14 miles wide. We're trying to prevent that. Additionally, as your car breaks in the PP will go UP, much like a real car and it getting better from a performance perspective upon break in. That's when you start stripping things off of it.


RM- Race mod car. There's only like 17 cars that you can buy stock and do a race mod to, which essentially makes it a tube car, ready for the track. Race car means stuff like the Calsonic Skyline GT500 car. All of which are allowed for the moment.

Okay, that answers part of it.

Maybe the rest is my online gaming newbishness, all the restrictions (i.e. no driving aids, penalties, etc.), am I going to need to set all that up on my end?

I dunno, maybe I need a primer in what exactly I'll need to do to race online. How do I join in, etc. I've gamed for a long time, I've just never crossed into the multiplayer online realm.

Driver aids and penalties are set by the host room. I generally leave them on when racing by myself, to work on spotting lines on tracks and stuff. To join- you can either get the room id# (16 digit number broken up 4x4) or find a friend online that's in the league, and join whatever room they're in, which would theoretically be the league room. That's the easy way. When you go to "Community" in GT mode, it will list all the friends you have that have the game, whether or not they're online. Click on that friend if they're online, and it will bring you to a little coffee cup, that will say lounge, and in the upper right hand corner of that coffee cup, there's a little (I wanna say gold, i'm doing this all from memory) icon that you can click on to join the room. From there, it's pretty self explanatory.

So, all I need to do is figure out a car under 520pp, set the aids, penalties, etc., and practice on the tracks to see where I stand. Not as complex as I thought.

Then, join in the shenanigans when they happen.

Pretty much. Once piece of advice, the cars handle like absolute and complete shit online compared to offline. NO idea why. Discovered that plowing a Miata into the Carousel at 140mph. So what i'd do is build the car you want, make sure it's capped at 520pp, and practice online. You can create your own private room and just buzz around the track there to get an idea.

^Tom got most of it. I find online to be more realistic than offline, or maybe i'm just used to it. All i know is that when playing offline, i tend to feel like God Mode has been engaged. :D

I JUST started working on my car last night. frickin 3* of toe just to get it to turn in. I need to futz with my rear wheels some more too, ass likes to hop out on it.
