The Minnesota State Patrol will have every trooper on the road Thursday as part of a special enforcement effort known as Maroon Day.

Since 2000, June 30 has been the deadliest day on state roads, with 35 deaths reported in 30 fatal crashes, the patrol said.

Soooo, I only saw two troopers on the road in the morning, one appeared to have just completed a speed correction counseling session, and the other was bestowing a tow truck upon a stricken Pontiac. Rather boring, actually.

Dude, it's morning.... normal rush hour patrol. Wait until this afternoon/evening when everyone is rushing out to head up north, out to the bar, etc.

That said, I saw 6 state patrol cars this morning, where I normally only see 2 or 3 on any given day.

Yeah, there didn't seem to be much in the metro area. Wonder if they were all camping further out?

Must have been. I caught 1 trapping on 494E just after the 35e ramps, bein' all sneaky in the median. Other than that it was a ghost town for police activity.
