Yes, there are a few exceptions to the rule that most SUVs are inflated cars, but you've named almost all of them there Josh. I've been trying to find a non-full size truck/SUV that can tow more than 5000lbs without luck. Was hoping the ecoboost Explorer would be it but didn't realize there was a change to a unibody construction since I owned mine back in the day. Suspensions can always be upgraded to handle your hauling needs, the frame can't.

It's called a TDI Touareg. Too bad they cost $10K more than a 4Runner Limited brand new and they're smaller in size. Those bad boys tow up to 7700lbs though and the torque is amazing! We haven't checked the mileage much yet for the daily driving, but on our trip to Rice Lake, WI and back we averaged just over 23mpg, which we thought was pretty awesome.

The current 4Runners' horsepower and torque numbers are very close to the specs on the older (2004ish) V8s, and most guys on the 4Runner forum say they'll tow a LOT more than 5000lbs, especially when coupled with a weight distribution hitch and/or airbag suspension.
Pete! I thought I saw you on T4R.org... LOL. Now I know I did!
Yep, that was me!

The main reason we bought ours was because it's virtually the same size as our old Pilot and it wasn't another Pilot! Jess really wanted another Pilot and there was no way in hell I was going to pay $40K for an SUV with a little moon roof and a little 7" DVD player mounted to the ceiling and a goofy shifter sticking out of the center stack like the rig was happy to see me or something. The only thing missing from the cushy 4Runner is memory seats. I really wanted to be able to push a button and have everything adjusted to me, rather than getting my butt chewed for not putting everything back exactly the way Jess had it...lol

Josh, we might have to hit up Adrian to do a photo shoot with the trucks together. And like you, we're looking forward to getting the front windows (and the moon roof) tinted. Just waiting for the next tint day at AJ's.

Agreed Pete, a photoshoot of the trucks would be cool. I also wish it had memory seats, the Ford Explorer had that, but oh well.

Once I sell some of the speed3 stuff I've got sitting around I'm going to pick up a baja rack for the roof.

I'd also really like to get some beefier wheels and some all terrain tires. Maybe a set of... 18s?!?!? Jay? Anyone? These 20s are too baller for me. I've got no clue about what to look for in truck wheels though. Pretty sure I still hate "American Racing" wheels and that seems to be what everyone has.

Viper Smart Start system getting put in on Sunday, plus maybe a 75wxst Cobra CB.

Already installed my first "mod" on Sunday. The Auto Ventshade brand bug shield. Perfect fit, looks OEM, plus should help keep some of the rock chips off the hood.

Wait, you're gonna shoot two stock 4runners? Can I bring my Corolla/prism for an all Toyota shoot?

I did the Ventshade II bug shield, chrome bulbs in the DRLs/blinkers, running boards, 14" black billet antenna al a amazon.com, roof rack bars (scary install), ceiling mounted 10.2" DVD player with a pair of wireless headphones (a MUST-HAVE for any road trip longer than an hour with little kids), MN Wild hitch cover and a Touareg cargo liner/tray with cargo blocks, which are basically 4 L-shaped brackets that velcro on to the special floor liner so stuff isn't sliding all over back there. I'm not planning on touching the wheels/tires at this point. I might look at replacing them with a smaller wheel to lower replacement cost a bit, but we'll see how long the OEM tires last. I kinda want to see what Tein would charge to put film on the front and headlights. The 3M kit for the front is 250.00 on eBay and I've found a headlight film kit for around 30.00, so a little spendy if we want it all protected right away.

Tom, I think you should 4x4 the hell out of that Corolla, but if it's really a Prism...hellz no, unless we get to park our 4Runners up on your hood or something.

Car's already pretty fucked up.... if you could get one of those pigs on the hood, maybe. Or I could put it on the frame of the jeep.....

SUDO Make me a SAMCH
They suggested they were only doing tinting at their new location off old hwy 8 during the winter, but I suppose they might make exceptions if enough cars were in a heated garage.
