Got rearended today...

... luckily it was only at about 5-10mph, and the only damage was where the kid's license plate bracket bolts punctured my rear bumper. God damn though, for as hard as my head snapped back I was expecting my car to be fucked up. Apparently he was nearly at a stop behind me when the light turned, and looked down for some reason. I was just about to take my foot off the brake, and BAM.

Fun fact: you can see his license plate number imprinted in my bumper. lol

Hope you (and everyone else) is okay.

Go see a Dr just in case. His insurance company should pay for it, and if you have trouble down the road, you've got it on the record.

Also, did you get the cops involved? I learned that lesson that sorta-hard way. I got rearended at a stop light in my old 3 (so like 2 years ago) and while the guy who did it was super nice about it, it was still a hastle. There were a few guys in the car, all latinos, and the driver didn't speak english. I got his DL and wrote EVERYTHING down from it, got his ins card and stuff. Called them and my company. It took his company like a month to even get a hold of the driver (turns out he was driving his friends car, owner happened to be down in Mexico for a while). Long story short... I could have paid my deductible and let my ins company deal with it, but I chose to just deal with his... it ended up taking like 3 months for them to decide to fix my car since they couldn't get a hold of the owner.

If it ever happens again, I WILL call the cops and get a report. I suppose with his LP imprinted on your car though, the evidence is clear.

Didn't get the cops involved, but you're right I probably should have. It was a college kid driving a car that was registered to his parents, but his address and the insurance address were both in IGH. Oh well, even if it takes a while to get taken care of it's not a huge deal.

As to seeing a Dr, I'll have to ask the claims rep about how that works, as my current health insurance kinda sucks. My neck was a tad sore for a few minutes afterwards, but I'd be more worried about Nanami because she was leaning kind of forward and had her body turned to the side at the time.

Man, by the time I send this car packing, it's not going to have a factory body panel left. lol

Yes...that does SUCK! You made a mild mistake about not filing a police report, but you have good pictures (of his licencse plate LOL) to back up the story if it comes to that. You both REALLY should go to a doc. Get your insurance company involved and have them handle everything, that's how I did it. I've had 3 accidents in the last 5 years and I just leave everything up to the insurance co. to figure out. I just make sure that they take care of things in a timely manner.
