Getting to the "NEW" 2005-2008 Cars & Trucks

So here is a question, and maybe this is something someone at Morries could chime in at if they are looking. With all the cars and trucks sitting in various storage areas and ports, how does a buyer go about getting their hands on say a 2006 Ford F-150 that's brand new, no miles, just sitting and waiting.

If a buyer already has funding, what does it take to get a transaction like this done.

My Truck is perfect for me and I love it, but my Dad is looking to replace his 1993 F150 with a new truck. He's using a farm note to purchase, so it's like cash to any dealer who has what he wants. he does not want an 09, but wants to pick up an 06-08 with little to low miles. In IA they go like fucking hot cakes so everyone one that he has "almost" had, has been sold to another dealer for more (Des Moines area). So now I'm looking in MN, but to be honest some of the Ford dealers here are assholes to deal with which is why we have a friend (goodbye on this board) looking at auctions.

But I was curious on all the inventory just sitting around.

I didnt realize you could go purchase those older vehicles. I am curious if anyone knows how to make this work.

2006? I don't think anyone has stock that old. Most cars go to auction after awhile.

^ I caught a news report stating there are cars and trucks unsold as far back as 2005 just sitting..typically in shipyards, or on race tracks (that's what Nissan did), but I'm not sure how to get a hold of them. Dealers wouldn't do anything I assume.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to. Why not make those available for purchase. Even if you sell all them off at half the original price, it's usable capital coming back into the business.

perhaps if half those cars had sold then the Big 3 (well 2 since Ford said they didn't need it) wouldn't have needed the gov't help to bail their sorry asses out. But where can we place the blame on why the economy is in the crapper right now? Bush? big name companies? Oil? The car companies need to get rid of those cars before coming out with a new model every year. otherwise we are just creating more trouble down the road. I agree that they should be sold at half the original price, or at least dismantle them, melt everything down, and use them in Saturns or one of the smaller brands. Or even letting them be scavenged for parts would be a good idea. Unfortunately most car companies don't think like that, but it would make one hell of a difference.

I'm not an expert in metalurgy, but I doubt you could melt down all the tempered steel and whatnot in cars and actually make something of the same strength again. I think the materials would be weakened by the process. Weak materials a safe car do not make.

Dismantling them would probably cost more than leaving them parked there. What would you do; reuse some of the parts? The cost to pull it all apart would probably negate any potential gains.
