Dash noise and loose driver's seat...

My car is only a 2011 but I already have rattle in my dash, that comes from the driver's side, closest to the bottom of the windshield. I think it may be the clip that holds that dash segment in place but I am unsure on how to get rid of the sound. Any help would be much appreciated.

The other issue is that there is a lot of play in the electric adjustment on my driver's seat. When I sit in the seat, I can rock it back to front. It is incredibly annoying when accelerating. In my opinion, there should not be that much play in the seat! The last time I mentioned it to the dealership, the service adviser said that was 'normal'. It has only gotten worth since. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

As for your first question- I'm not sure how you'd get rid of it- I'd have to see it, and hear it to get a better idea. With the play in the electric seat, it sort of sounds like one of the gears might be partially stripped or not held on all the way, giving it some lash. Sounds like the dealer needs to fix it.

Thanks for the reply! Either there is not a ton of traffic on these forums or people just don't care to comment on my posts... makes me feel a bit like an 'outsider'. There are a few members who have been very helpful though. Thank you to those individuals!

Anyways...
My car is going into Morrie's tomorrow, so I will be pushing them to take care of the seat issue. The car is still under warranty so I don't see why they shouldn't take care of it.

There isn't a ton of traffic. The other side of it is- a lot of people just don't know. Several of our regulars that used to own mazdas no longer do. You're one of a very small handful of people that own a 2g, and I honestly didn't even know they had power seats. I just read it and went- I know this from my DSM.

Yeah, I was thinking that was the case. Any way to market MNMazda more? Maybe a FB page to steer people to the forums?

Thanks for the insight.

We have an FB page, but it's about as active as Dan's mom at a salad bar. It never really did much. We're working on some other things that will hopefully drive traffic.

Yeah, my 2011 Mz3 S Grand Touring is loaded. Previous owner paid for it all and I just benefited. There are a few options that I don't really care for though.

UPDATE: My extended warranty is going to cover the driver's seat issue. The entire lower chassis of the seat has to be replaced... it's a $1700 part, plus labor.

Thanks to Jim at Morrie's, for pushing to get my extended warranty to cover the problem!

That's awesome. Glad to hear it all worked out. VERY curious as to what happened to damage the part to begin with, especially considering the fact that they have to do the whole thing.

There were bushings that were worn already. The bushings contact the rails that the seat glides on. Even the service adviser said that there shouldn't be that much wear! Morrie's tried to see if them could just get the bushings to replace them but they are not offered as single parts. The only way to fix the issue is to replace the entire lower chassis of the seat. I'm not sure Mazda was really thinking when they designed those parts. Way to go Mazda. LOL.

Sounds like you got a fatty as a PO, if the rails were that worn, or someone who enjoyed a little mouth hug on the road and had to move the seat back and forth lol.

HA! I have no idea how big the previous owner was. Thinking that it may just be a poor design... and if that is the case... I hope it doesn't happen again.
