Hey,
I am highly considering coming and having my Speed6 done but am slightly apprehensive. From what I understand MN is pretty lame with their tint laws. Anything worth putting on is basically illegal, correct? I mean 50% seems barely noticable but costs just as much as 20% for example. So, what is the real deal with the tint laws. I see cars everyday, most more than likely come stock that way, that are definitely darker looking than 50%. Is it just luck of the draw if you happen to pass or get pulled over by a dick cop? I guess I am a little concerned that sometimes I am "riding dirty" if you will....stuff in my car that shouldn't be, or sometimes maybe have just one too many at a happy hour. I would hate to get pulled over for damn tint only to get in trouble for something considerably worse.
Anyway, I was thinking 35% nano ceramic, as I also run my GPS and 3G on my cell phone quite a bit in the car. So, not looking to do limo tint all the way around or anything. Should I worry too much about the tint laws or not. Anyone here actually get pulled over for tint?
Thanks guys,

1st off welcome. yes people have gotten pulled over for tint, tom (mndsm) has. i had 35% all around on my first 6, and i have to say i felt like my GPS' ability to find signal was greatly hampered. also, the tint guys that we use have a different brand of tint for 35%, so that ends up costing $50 more.

50% is the legal limit. This is for cars, trucks/suv's are different and can be darker legally.

To clarify that a bit, ANY vehicle in MN cannot have the front two windows tinted darker than 50%. For cars, none of the other windows can be darker than 50% either; for trucks/vans, the rear windows may be any darkness you wish. No tint is allowed on windshields whatsoever (except for a visor stripe across the top).

Yes, many members here have been pulled over for tint, though usually it's in conjunction with another offense (such as no front plate). If you ride dirty a lot or drink and drive, don't do anything else to ask for the cops to pull you over (or you could, you know, not ride dirty or drive drunk).

I was waiting for that response. I will say I don't make a habit of driving drunk. I do go to happy hours often after work for a few drinks. I am probably right around the legal limit, and would prefer not to draw any extra attention if I don't have to. Also, I am not a drug mule, but you know, sometimes you gotta be prepared!

Anyway, thanks for the responses guys. That definitely helps. Would love to hear anyones opinions on whether 50% is worth it or not. Anyone got any pics to throw up with 50%?

I'M OFFENDED!
IMO 50% is junk. But, there are a few members that tend to rock it ok. I just don't see paying for it. Generally, you won't be snagged for 35%. I've been tagged twice for 20%, though the first time, I had no front plate among other reasons to be pulled over, and the 2nd time, I was doing... 20ish over? Both tickets are ghosts though. I have a script.

pics won't do much justice, but me and derrian (joelle) currently have 50% on our cars. it's noticeable that there's tint on the windows, but looking out there's really no difference.

I think the color of the car (both interior and exterior) makes a big difference as well. A darker exterior will make the tint look not quite as dark. A darker interior will make it look a lot darker.

Yeah I have a black car with 50% tint. At the time adding the $150 for it onto my new car loan was a no brainer cause I would never notice the payment difference, but I was told it would not be dark enough for me :p

Which is true. I'm going to 35% come tint day. :)

We are at Porkys tonight if you want to come look at tints, I'm sure we will have a variety

I'm a 50/50 for this now, I have to drive to WI to tow a boat back for my Uncle and it's possible it will be this weekend now (waiting on an exact date from the factory).

I'd still pay extra for the 35% ceramic tint, in case you were wondering Tein.

110 HP of FURY!
Tein, can I get a price quote on a 2 door coupe + removal of old tint?
Dude, FIRST POST! SInce I did the leg work, you have to let me drive the car around the block at least :D

2 door coupe - $89 at most for removal, not sure what the discount rate is, if there is one.
2 door couple - $125 to tint, regular $169.

Also, people need to remember that we will have a drawing for two $50.00 off your bill at the event for those who are already spending $100 or more that day with Tint Pros!

I asked him because I wanted to see if he would throw a discount in there or not on the removal. Just looking to see how much I should budget, if I even do this.

AJ can you add this to the first post? Please add tint removal to mine. I guess pricing for a 2 door coupe is different than a Corvette's price too - damn 'Vette tax!

Thanks.
