OMG! I highly recommend taking an auto-X event to really show you how to throw your car around and see what it can do!

I was really nervous to do this, being Ihave never really driven aggresively and often worry about my car flipping over :p But it was awesome and a ton of fun!

I think I ended with a 31.5 ish with a cone and 32 ish without. Hoping to find the numbers somewhere. I'll be looking for another event to get into and the equiptment to get me a better time :)

MOWOG is just the name of MAC's (Minnesota Autox Club) autox series. So anything that says MOWOG is an autox event.

MAY 8...........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 1, VALLEYFAIR
MAY 9...........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 2, VALLEYFAIR
JUNE 13........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 3, DCTC
JULY 18.........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 4, DCTC
JULY 25.........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 5, MIDWAY STADIUM
AUG 22..........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 6, DCTC
OCT 9...........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 7, CANTERBURY PARK
OCT 10.........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 8, CANTERBURY PARK
OCT 17.........AUTOCROSS - MOWOG 9, MIDWAY STADIUM
Also, advanced signup for the events is done online at myautoevents.com, opening 1 month before the event takes place. They do usually fill up fairly quickly, but last year I showed up to 3 events without signing up and ran all three. You have to show up early (right when registration starts) and get on a wait list, but it works.

See, there is so much verbage there that I can't tell, nor care to try, what's what. I don't care about a school or anything, just an event to show up, pay, make a few runs, go home.
You really do want to go to one of the novice schools. You will learn so much about how much you don't know how to drive, especially when your car gets out of control. I may or may not have done a 180 unintentionally. Also, having in instructor observe your driving and point out all the things you're doing wrong helps you much faster than trying to learn on your own. I got about 15 runs in yesterday and I hear you only get 6 runs on a normal competition day. There is no substitute for wheel time, you will get a lot more at a novice school event.

It was exciting watching everyone get faster throughout the day, push yourselves and your cars harder each run. I hope to see a bunch of you at events this year.

I guess I just don't care to spend that much time dealing with school and instructors and stuff. Gets to be a long day and I just can't spend that much time (2 fulls days) doing car shit anymore with the kiddo.

Does anyone know if you buy a spot that you have to be their early or at the start or could you show up later on, still get runs in, and then leave. Sure, I may end up buying 1 or 2 runs only, but that's enough for me I think.

You have to be there for registration, which is early in the morning, but you could choose to leave any time after that I suppose. I guess at that point it would depend on run order. In the events I've been to, there were 4 heats. You'd drive two of them (1,3 or 2,4) and work one heat, then be off for the other. You could probably sign up to work the first opportunity and leave after your first set of runs if you wanted. Run heat 1, work heat 2, leave. Or Work heat 1, run heat two, leave.

Woot, they posted an excel sheet with times up on the autox club website. I added an auto filter for ease of use.

Apparently we can't upload excel spreadsheets here, so you'll have to hitup this thread:

My copy of the spreadsheet is on page 5.

Oh sweet, thanks eddy! My fastest clean run was like 75th overall, counting all runs, but I didn't really think to compare fastest runs for everyone.

I'm glad you see how much difference tires make. Chris Scheidecker (#26) was driving my car, he ran a 30.0 with one cone for his fastest run which is the fastest run I saw put down by a student all day.

You mean these aren't good?

That's from today, fronts. I swapped them to the back and have got a set of 225/40-18 Nitto Neogen ZRs coming.
