I5 2.5L duratec with 300hp and 302 lbs torq, fwd of awesomeness right there.
There was some discussion so here is the real thread to have it in. Now IT IS COMING TO THE US. comes to Europe in March and the US in the fall. From what I've read they changed many of the duratec's internals to get that 300hp so a standard c30 cant just be bolted up/tuned to match the RS, theres new cams, gaskets, IM and EM's. The rumored cost was 25k euros, but theres been no official price set. The focus ST-3 is at 20k euros so I wouldnt see it being much higher than that or a c30 (22k euro's when i priced one out with most options). Its was/is being tested/tuned on the nurburgring, so hopefully it gives the cobalt ss a runs for its money at 8:22 min. I think the ms3 did like a 8:38 or something, it was about 15 seconds behind the cobalt ss.

Comes stock with a LSD and new revoknuckle technology. I saw a testing vid and it said they hit 160mph..ohhhh Heres some vids

I know you don't mean that. Because then you'd probly be shopping the SS. It's got to be about the whole car. The drive is sooo good in my msp that I could never trade it in at a big loss for some of these new 250+hp monsters that they make nowadays. I think the RS will be a winner, but don't get all crazy and say its a world beater, even if its fast the "the ring".

I just think its great looking, very powerful, good options/interior, and I'm sure the price will be right. It's going to be a great platform, but is it really going to be that much better than the ms3? Ms3 has perfect interior, 4 doors, hatch, 6 speed, LSD, yada yada. On paper the RS doesn't offer a whole lot more.

I bought the ms3 to race, it does its job yes. If the RS gets a better time around the ring then I'm all game to seriously check it out. I already looked at the SS and didnt like the limiting factor of spaciousness. I honestly dont use my back seat much but to haul skis and sometimes people. So as long as the RS could hold my skis...

I am all about fast handling. The Ring provides just a crazy performance test thats how I look at cars now. Problem is with that SS driver of the 8:22, drove a ms3 I bet he could cut the time down some. I am also a ford fan, so I'm all about this thing. I dont think you get how crazy this ring time is. The SS has the fastest fwd time, which beats soooooo many "good" cars sti's, evo's, bmw's etc. that is what matters to me because if it handles on the ring I dont need to change much from stock at all to make it awesome on road tours or autox or DD. The Ms3 is a good car, but its "rod throwing" has me worried when i'm pounding the crap out of my car and driving 30k miles a year. We all pick our cars for different reasons and obviously your reason and mine are much different.

Love it. I think all variations of the Focus RS have been pretty cool. Hell, I think I would have driven the Fiesta ST as well.

For a DD I'd have to pass. I don't care for the FWD aspect, nor the 2 door aspect. Outside that, if this would be a fun weekend car to tear up the Auto X and Road Course with, I think it's full of win.

I've got to say I'm kinda digging it. The back-end is a little funky, but I think I could live with it. I've got a soft-spot in my heart for certain boy-racer looks, as long as there is some performance to back it up. US pricing will be the make-or-break in my mind.

I like it, but it would have to be/feel considerably faster to make me consider getting rid of the speed 3 for it. Things like shift feel and handling would have to be improvements too, I dig two doors and the seats though.

I find it interesting that for some the 2-doors is an improvement and for others it's a detriment. It is a shame they aren't making it in 3-door and 5-door versions.

Just watching it drive around corners this thing looks stiffer and 19" rims....jeeez that thing is going to be bouncy in duluth ;)

I don't see the real advantage of these mega-huge rims. I would love to see a track test of these cars on 17", 18", and 19" wheels to see the difference. I remember when they used to do 15", 16", and 17" and the difference between 16" and 17" was essentially zero.

It's looks more than anything. I think 18's are a great balance, they look good, tires are moderately priced, still provides an okay ride and protection of the wheel, stepping up to 19's seems unnecessary to me.

Yeah, there's almost no rubber on that thing. I'm sure you could step down to 18's with more rubber and it'd still look good.

Lots of these cars end up being better with 16s and 17s as well as the tire selection being better. If I picked a car like this up, 17s might be the logical choice over 18s.
