Yea, sorry about that. There was a server switchover early yesterday morning and for whatever reason there were two copies of MNMazda. You got the wrong one.
That being said- I remember reading about your low power situation. The first thing I'd do is check compression in that car, if...
Piston was touching the valve? Sounds to me like a timing issue- I know the timing tensioners tend to go bad, there was a TSB on em- my car made the same noise.
Rear will hold with just the pins. Mine's been that way through 1/2 dozen paint jobs and about 6 years..... even been through the touchless. No problems.
Also, never been into homebrewing, I'd quit drinking for the better part of a decade and only recently discovered I was able to do so again without a retarded hangover. Plus I live in an apartment. I'd probably be available for sampling that cider you make....not a huge fan of IPA's. Too bitter.

My ms3 has a 2+ drop in it- and with winter tires it does fine. I know, apples to oranges and all that, but a low car can make it with the proper equipment.
Not sure TBH- but I know it's a completely different clutch from the mz3 to the ms3, I've owned both, and the clutch in the ms3 is FAR more aggressive than the mz3 clutch, for obvious reasons. Might have been a change when they went to the 6sp manual from the 5sp, which is what the earlier...
Indeed, careful suspension planning and weightloss. These cars were pretty light, drop some CF on it, maybe gut the interior a little, lighter seats and whatnot, wheels and sticky rubber, and what Jay said- and you have a neat little hoon machine.
The first question to ask yourself- What is your goal? Then formulate plan. Otherwise you end up with a car like my ms3. Piles of parts thrown in all sorts of directions with no real thought.
