Ford GT is a great car, but nothing..... spectacular from an influential standpoint. Ferrari still made Ferraris they didn't get all scared when the FordGT came out. Motor was basically a Cobra motor with a better supercharger. Lots of parts bin engineering stuffed into a gorgeous body.

How so? Evo was only brought over to answer the WRX.... and then the STi showed up. Not to mention the Evo was esentially a 25 year old driveline. Good car.... but not of the decade.

With the Prius bringing hybrid technology to the first feasible "family-sized" car (the Insight with only 2 seats failed hard at gaining widespread popularity...along with the unique rear wheel fender cover-thingies) would definitely get my vote to Car of the Decade.
I'm anxious to see what impact the Chevy Volt has on vehicles in the next decade. While the Clarity is an incredible technological achievement, it requires retrofitting the fuel supply network throughout the country, while the Volt will plug-in virtually anywhere and provide drivers with a reasonable commuter-friendly electric-only driving range, while enabling their owners to use the gas engine for long trips. I think this flexibility will engender a lot of enthusiasm for the vehicle if Chevy doesn't mess it up with crappy workmanship or by pricing it out of reach for the majority of the middle-class.

I was referring more to the influence it brought to the retro styling in the American market. Ferrari had no reason to be concerned, let's be honest. What would the pony car market be today without the Ford GT? Sure, it might be niche (just as the WRX, Civic, H2, GT-R, PT and even the Prius is - just a greater reach).

Depends on who you give credit for the retro styling movement to. If we're gonna go that way, I REALLY hate to say it, but the PT Cruiser did it long before the GT did. Sure it spawned some "Interesting" vehicles (HHR SSR) but it also started the whole Charger/300c/Challenger/Mustang/Camaro thing. And if we REALLY want to get into it, VW wins that one with the New Beetle.
