Walmart strikes again!

I don't get idealistic very often when it comes to my shopping habits, but walmart is one of my few exceptions. There has always been something about the store and its business practices, etc that creep me out a little bit. If ever there was a company that was going to be one of those evil "take-over-the-world" corporations, it would be walmart.

I know I could save money by shopping there, but frankly it's just not the kind of company I want to give my monetary support to.
Well said.

And no, I dont have a problem with competition, especially as a consumer. I will never complain about that. But, I do have a problem with companies who dont take care of their employees and Walmart is notorious for that.

Cub = way over priced groceries and you have to bag yourself.
SuperTarget is able to sell certain things cheaper since they have high-markup items to offset their losses on groceries. I've shopped both, and frankly I'm able to spend less on groceries at Cub, for whatever the reason. In fact, both of the Cubs I frequent are located within view of a SuperTarget--one was built for the express purpose of underselling SuperTarget, and they do a good job of it too! Cub has crazy deals if you watch their mailings, whereas Target really doesn't do much like that--they count on you being there for other things, then stopping for a few groceries.

As far as bagging myself, I don't want some lazy 16 year old kid cramming my groceries in bags. A $100 grocery order easily takes less than half the time to get through at Cub than Target, and I know my stuff is packed correctly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm at Target almost once a week, and it's handy to have groceries around when I do. But I do 90% of my grocery shopping in trips especially for that purpose, and it's far easier to save a crapload at cub than target in that way.

I shop at target cause its closer to me. The Quality of Walmarts products are just not worth the few dollars of savings though.

I'm actually surprised you are able to spend less. Is it because you only shop the deals or with coupons? I went to the new Cub that opened in Rogers, and was absolutely shocked at the prices. Nearly $5.00 for the orange juice I buy at Walmart for $2.50-$3.00 and $3.49 @ Target. Seriously, does orange juice need to be that expensive? I was amazed at other prices as well. Needless to say I picked up the basics I needed and left. I haven't returned since.

I don't subscribe to a weekly/Sunday paper, so I don't see what deals are going on anywhere...but I know I save money by avoiding Cub. Oh, and I've only have 1 problem with the way my groceries were bagged at Target/Walmart, and that was someone put my bananas with frozen items....

Yeah, I have no doubt that when it comes to specific items, you can get better deals elsewhere. But they constantly have tons of items on coupon/store sale that are ridiculously cheap. I know for a fact that with a small amount of fore-thought, I can get out of cub for FAR cheaper than target. Hence the planned grocery shopping trips. It doesn't hurt that the gf works at cub, so we're always in the loop as to what the crazy deals are. I don't ONLY shop the deals/coupons, but I usually save enough on a few of those items to offset any difference in the rest of my bill.

Also, target's grocery section tends to lean towards slightly more upscale brands than cub, which may be why comparable products seem cheaper there.

This went from an interesting discussion to Martha Stewart goes shopping.

I'M OFFENDED!
Well, the fact stilll remains that walmart is a bunch of pirates, but also some convenient motherfuckers. I would never set foot in there if I had a Target/Kmart/anything closer, but it's as close as it gets.

Kmart scares me even more than walmart. If walmart is going to take over the world someday, then kmart is going to be that insane guy under the bridge who wears a dead rodent for a hat and throws his poo at you as you walk by.

See I like Kmart. There is something ''special'' about it. Can't really put my finger on it..... but it's like a whole different world there. Plus they sell mega outdated and second run toys, so you can usually find super cool shit there for cheap if you're bored. Plus my dad has been a warehouse manager there for like 25 years... and they treat him decent.

Nanami worked at the k-mart in maplewood for a couple months. She insisted that I drop her off and pick her up so that everyone who worked there knew she wasn't alone. That store had some scary peeps working there...

Then again, apparently on the east coast, K-marts are the upscale stores like target is around here, so who the hell knows...

Scariest chain store I ever walked into was the Kmart in Escondido California. Needed some M&Ms. Yeah..... Umm.... there is no way to describe that place.
