unichip installed today on MSP

Unichip installed today in the MSP and the car runs pretty good. I drove it on different setting for a while to see what the difference were and the car seemed fairly happy with everything. My car seemed happy with both A and B maps too.

I did get fuel cut and was boosting 15PSI! on high boost setting, but it is really cold today so I will see if the weather has anything to do with that. I'm going to do low boost the vast majority of the time anyway, but its cool that high boost is just a flip of the switch away.

I'll keep this post updated with any issues...whatever...

SEE POST #15 FOR VIDEOS OF BOOST LOW AND HIGH!!!

dyno #1 with unichip
here are the dyno's: 2 runs on low boost and 1 run on high boost, note the perfect a/f ratios:

here is the dyno with my original stock dyno graph plotted over it:

i wouldnt ever run no 15psi on a non built MSP, thats just cause to join the Zoom Zoom Boom club lol. its too bad the closest place to have a unichip tuned is chicago. thats why i got the Split Second FTC EMS, cuz DB Performance can tune thoes. The unichip is prime, and i would have went that way but no one can tune them around here. What the low boost setting at? 8psi?

Low boost is right at stock level, my car does around 7psi. The fuel cut may be due to the cold temps today as I hit fuel cut in the below zero freezing winter days at stock boost anyway. I'll see how it runs on a warmer day. I threw in some high octane gas in the meantime to make sure the engine feels a little more comfortable while I'm figuring the unichip out, I'm hoping the boost will come down a little in warmer weather. Otherwise I'm just going to throw on a manual boost controler and set it at a comforable level.

I was hoping to dyno at a dyno day in May, but I think I'll have to go a little sooner. Also I'm going to post a vid of the boost spike. There will be dyno#'s soon.

thats pretty cool that it runs 2 pre set maps. My FTC has a base map too but i know nothing about it or what mods it suppose to support or anything, im hoping ken from protege garage can help a brother out on that. My car hits the fuel cut/sputter thing in really cold temps too, so i believe your problem is just do to minnesotas wonderful air temps! lol

There are tons of maps for the SS on mazdas247.com that people have created for their specific mod combos. I'd imagine you could find one that will suit your setup pretty well.

but i have the V3 ftc with timing control and other features so i dunno if it will work the same, maybe there are some maps for the FTC v3? ill check.....good looking out brother!

Also, I would imagine that the A/F maps written for the v2 would still work on the v3. But either way, I'd bet there's something out there that's pretty close to ideal for ya. And if nothing else, the SS can be tuned by anyone, so getting a custom map shouldn't be a big deal either.

drove to St paul just now and back on 94/35W in traffic. Very easy to see why this saves gas, much nicer cruiser now, can't really explain it, just much smoother in heavy traffic.

Boost videos are up!

Boost videos are up!

1st vid: stock boost
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cNVWM0_U2v8

2nd vid: high boost, the car actally held the boost today!!! No fuel cut. A few reasons for that: Temps were a little warmer, and the car didn't quite hit 15 psi possibly because the ecu has gotten more used to the unichip ecu and they are working better together. Anyway I'm very happy...

Stewart warner boost gauge has max boost 15 psi, the video shows boost spikes to 14 psi and settles to 12 psi.

What are your AFRs on the high boost map? 14psi spikes would make me avoid that setting like the plague.
I don't know what my AFRs are...hah ha...um....uh. I will be going on the dyno to figure that out. This is my last blast on high boost until that day comes. I dont' have a AFC/gauge. This was just for you guys.

heh.... that's probably smart. I can't blame you though, since I don't think I'd be able to resist a quick pull at 15psi if it was just the flip of a switch away.

SUDO Make me a SAMCH
People blow up cars all the time because they 'just wanted one quick run' before tuning, it's your car man but I'd be very carefull running that kind of boost without a wideband / before having it on a dyno and tuned, just my .02, sounds awesome though I can't wait for tuning on the MS3
