Tranny oil smell.

I get a tranny/gear oil smell in my car after I drive it for more then a few miles. Anyone else have the same issue??

Also a link to a good write-up on how the change the tranny fluid would be great. And recommendations on what kind and how much fluid would be nice.



I figure if the car is going to be up on stands for the springs I should just do a full service.

Redline MT-90 (link) is the oil of choice, MrMatt got a case of it with the MAP GB, but I think all of it has been claimed. I plan on changing mine at AJs install day.

Any chance this is from a diff/transfer case, and not the tranny?

It comes from the front around the tranny.

Now that I think about it. It may be from the transfer case. What fluid would you recommend for that?
