The 2013 MNMazzda Spring Cruise (possible over-nighter)

Howdy all. That time is nearing again and through the years the spring cruise has been a rather popular event for the group. People have talked about doing an over-night cruise/event. So what would this entail?

Well I figure the way to do it would be to do a mild afternoon cruise with the group. This would be a good opportunity to just get a good drive in and scout some last minute roads. Best bet would be to have the group meet up somewhere for a little lunch, then go cruising. We could then get together for dinner and get a hotel afterwards. I will start looking at specific restaurants and hotels once we have a good idea of who is coming and the amount of people. Definitely somewhere with a bigger pool room for the whole group to chill and have some good times at. Again, rooms and that whole situation will be figured out once the people have been figured out. We can then get up semi early and head out for our normal cruising action. And possibly have one last lunch at the Nelson creamary before making out way back to Minnesota.

Anyone who has been on one of our cruises will get the whole concept of the cruise itself.
NEW SCHEDULE
Meet Saturday morning

So thoughts, ideas, etc. Who's in?

I would probably be in for this. I would need to see when it gets a little closer how work plays out.

I would suggest making the cruse Saturday - mainly to allow those that drink more than they should at the hotel the opportunity to sleep in on Sunday, and not have to go driving twisties with a rocking headache. Also keeps people from wanting to turn in early. If you do a mid-late morning cruse and finishing sometime in the mid afternoon (2-3pm) you hit checkin time, people can relax / cleanup etc before dinner, then party the evening away.

If it ends up the 18/19 we may or may not go - will depend on destination (for the cruse, as well as hotel options/rates) and format (sat or sun main cruse). We have a twins game on Sunday at 1:10pm we'll need to be back for.

Thanks for the input picklz I agree 100% now that you pit it that way. I would say do the standard cruise plans. Meet up about 8 or 9. Cruise to nelson for a light lunch. Cruise some more. Possibly hit any good roads a second time. Make our way to the hotel for checking in cleaning up and whatnot. Grab some dinner. And head back for hotel shens. I was thinking something around the eau claire area as far as eat and stay. They have a Texas roadhouse which has some solid good grub. And probably a better chance of finding a hotel to suit our needs.

EDIT:

So there is a best western plus hotel in eau claire. They have a pool and everything. And since Molly works for best western, there MIGHT be a possibility of discounts or something. Otherwise its about 100 bucks for the night. Would that be something that could work? Ore would people maybe looking for something a bit more fancy or out of town?

Well if it's more "fancy" you can definitely count the poor person out.

And Texas Roadhouse...I don't know about you, but it's a ten minute drive for me to get to the one up here in Coon Rapids... :p

Yes, I know, that's the only one in MN...it was a dig at those of you who live further away.

I don't really think fancy is necessary personally. I would look for enough rooms and a pool and some decent acomidations. And yeah I know there is a Texas roadhouse in mn. Doesn't change the fact their food is pretty delicious.lol. so anyways. Who else is interested. Id say about 8 to 12 people would make for a pretty epic event. Also seeing as how the spring cruise has been going in for a while I will likely get picklz to make up some vinyls for everyone so that the standard donation is actual worth something.

Cool. I will probably give it another week or so and start a finalized thread for this.

Also please let me know if you are bringing you SO, bringing a friend, okay with sharing rooms, etc. So that we know how many rooms we will probably need.

I will set a deadline on signing up or whatever for some time in mid-march. That way we will have time to make sure we have plenty of time to get the hotel situations figured out.

Also, first post edited with new schedule plan and attendance list.

If you call the hotels they will usually hold a block of rooms for you for a time frame, regardless, it's up to people to reserve their own room and in order to do that you need to lock a date down.

Side note, not everyone needs to make it an overnight, especially if you make the trips stopping points easy enough to drive back from same day.

New Ulm is another option, casio action is a there i think. :)

And yeah, as AJ stated, if you can't make the overnight part of the trip, you are still more than welcome for the cruise and lunch and dinner and what not if you are so inclined. You just wont have as much fun as the rest of us :D

Does anyone else have suggestions on other places as far as location, hotel, food, activities goes?
