Spin-on filter conversion for Speed6/Speed3

I found this while looking though the mazda6club site.

I will be doing this I love the spin on filter and hate strap wrenches. Plus it will be much easier to change the oil.

There is a link to the kit in the thread. It will work on the 6 and the 3 so game on.

Plus when I do this I would love a little help and we can do a write-up also.

So if you would like to help post up here and we can set up a time. I should be getting the kit in February so no rush.

I'd be down to help out. I basically already did the whole process when I installed my oil pressure gauge on the 6. I ended up having to remove the entire housing to get the aftermarket sender to fit and wished I had the spin-on kit at the time...The only thing different is the oil cooler on top and it sounds like the part from the Tribute takes care of that.

I'll probably have to order this as well. I was cursing the cartridge filter the other night when I changed my oil.

When's your next oil change due? Might as well kill two birds with one stone and do it then.

Hmmm, I never completely got the point of the spin-on conversion. I suppose if I was changing oil on like 10 cars in a row, it would be nice, but the cartridge setup only adds a couple minutes to the oil change process.

Plus, this swap seems like a lot more work than it was on the base 2.3MZR

Agreed the cartridge system isn't that big of a deal, less anoying than that stupid plastic splash guard that covers the whole underside of the engine/trans. But I'd be happy to lend a hand with the conversion.

Might also be looking for some help installing a race pipe :)

We need to find a heated garage now!

I'm planning on doing the conversion, I already have the parts in hand to do it. I just need to wait until my next oil change.
