RPM surging in MZ3

So over the last few days when it's been warm, after driving for a while, the RPMs spike above 2 and surge between 2 and 4 when in neutral. While at cruise speed, if I let off the gas and press on the gas pedal, it is choppy. Every time it has done it, the ac has been on and I have shut it off. When restarting it, it has been ok for a bit.

Anyone know what could be going on?

I've turn off the ac for a few miles and it didn't return to normal before I shut off the car. So, I really can't tell.

Also, no CEL or warning lights, temp gauge is normal.

I would try unhooking the battery for a bit. Reconnect it and see if it goes away, at least for a while. If it goes away for a while or all together. Its probably electrical/ the computer.

Disconnected the battery on saturday, been driving it around. I'll be sitting in traffic later today, so we will see if it acts up.
