Picklz' Epic Thread of Wheel Decisionery!

Picklz

SUDO Make me a SAMCH
For those who do not frequent the chat box - I'm having issues picking a set of wheels for mah Speed6, thus this thread has been started.

The car is my daily driver so I'm not looking for crazy wide or HELLAFLUSH!!1!ONE fitments. 18x8 is my preference, I may entertain 17's or 19's for the perfect wheel but highly prefer an 18. As for offset something 40-48 would be preferred (for an 18). I should probably note the car will be lowered on coilovers.

Tires are going to (probably) be 235/40/18's - StarSpecs, NeoGens, KDWII's are a few I'm considering, though this thread really is about the wheels not the tires.

Car as it sits today:

Chop car should anyone want to try:

Tenzo Type M's

Initially when I bought the car, I was going to get Tenzo Type M's in black w/ the red stripe, I know It's not everyone's favorite but I love the look - pics of Qwik6's car for reference below. I'm still digging this a lot but decided to see what other options I had, thus this thread was born.

Tenzo Concept 9
In doing some diggin I came across Tenzo Concept 9's, they are a new wheel this year so finding good pictures of them, or any pictures on a vehicle has been a challenge which is why I'm hesitant to get them, but I do dig em, looking at the Matte Bronze one's:

The wheel:

Horrible Chop:

TSW Cadwell
Haters gonna hate on this one I'm expecting, yes it's chrome, I kinda dig it. Problem again I can't find pics of these on any mazda's so trying to invision just how this'll look on mah car.

TSW Zolder
Looking at the bronze w/ polished lip, I think they look fresh, but once again, no other similar cars w/ them on to see how they will actually look.

Privat Reserv
I kinda like these (in a NON redonkulous offset) they make em in 18x8 +40 which may work, they come in gray - id want em in a color that pops ie orange, green, red, blue, etc.

I'm open to other suggestions also! Let me know what you think.

I'm right there with ya on "issues"! I must have spent the last two months researching for some as well. Not to mention trying to get specs (weights) for specific models - with not a whole 'lotta luck.

However, I think I have found one that I may pull the trigger on (I'll ask in a new thread). This manufacture does have a wheel that I would love to get, but it only comes in 19".

Its from FIVE:AD and is the S5:F model. Their site

I'm looking at the R6:F for my 3.

This style may not be your thing, but these are the others I was considering:

MOMO - STRIKE

Momo Winter

Ace Manta

TSW Vortex (18" only)

TSW Spa (UK only)

ACE Cinco (18" only, 40 offset)

Wolfrace Asia-Tec Katana 2 (UK only)

I really like the TSW line, but from what I can tell, they are heavy wheels. I was dead set on the TSW Nurburgring initially, but the thinner spoke type isn't doing it for me.

Another one I'm really liking PRIMAX but the offset is pushing it and can't find weights yet.

5 spoke

Antera 369 - $425/ea

Momo Ten S

Those R5:F's look pretty hot in black / stealth chrome actually - though I'm looking for more of a split or multi-spoke, the momo Ten S's are nice too. The rest aren't really what I want for the ms6.

Also, thats a lot o wheels lol - The TSW's tend to be a cheaper wheel, but with that comes weight. I'm not really worried about it but if your looking for a lighter wheel they probably aren't as desirable.

You should see the amount of f%$% links I have organized. Pretty sad really:)

I thought the TSW line are of better quality that the typical wheels. I really like their designs.

Well I was just saying cheaper in that they are generally knockoffs of higher end wheel companies (Rays/Volk, Work, etc) and they aren't always as light, aren't forged etc. I think they make great stuff though.

Found this pic - really leaning towards something bronze or gold. Also saw a few of the ol black w/ polished lip on the white that looked hot, but not sure I want to go that route again.

I love those Ace Mantas! Those are one of the sets I was considering before finding my current set dirt cheap, because the spokes go all the way to the outside of the rim, which makes the wheels look at least one size larger than they are. I'm all about the black with the red stripe too, although that look might be considered more of a trend a few years from now versus a silver or bronze wheel.

I'M OFFENDED!
I think the Privats with a nice gold center would look pretty st00pit fresh. I'm still bent on those Concept9's tho.

110 HP of FURY!
Rock some 15s!!!

I want these, but don't want to sell an organ to buy them, so I could live through you if you got them. :) think of the phat tire you could rock with all that room!

I like the TSW Zolder with the bronze. Or the Tenzo's with the red stripe. You could paint the stripe white too.

So I've spent far too many hours over the past week looking at pics of Various mazda's w/ wheels, doing photo chops, looking at wheels , etc. I've pretty much ruled out the options in my OP for one reason or another. It has seemed like everything I end up liking is either really expensive, the wrong size/offset/pattern, or out of production.

Right now I'm leaning towards some Konig Milligrams:

They are 18x8.5 which is wider than I'd ideally want but I like the look and they come in just shy of 19lbs apparently which aint bad at all for 18's that wont cost me an arm and a leg. I can get them in +45 or +40, leaning towards the +40 since I'm rolling my fenders anyway, with a 235/40 tire.

Couple pics on a white ms3

I really like the design, but I can't decide if the polished stripe completely works for me. It does break up the black, and it's much better than a polished outer lip IMO.

yeah I think that's what I like about em - they are a bit different than the standard polished outer lip design, but still not 100% black. I think it may have a tendency at some angles/distances to make the rim look a bit smaller, but that really doesn't bother me.
