So I thought it would be fun to get together and shoot each other...with paintball guns! It's been a couple years since I quit playing but I have the itch to get back into it. It's tons of fun (even for those who've never gone before), as long as you wear some thicker clothing it doesn't really hurt much either.

This thread is to determine interest and try and decide exactly what we would want to do. Our options would be indoor or outdoor. I myself would like to see outdoor but I'll leave that up to the poll.

I'm going to try and set this up for a Sunday in September. The 21st or the 28th is what I'm thinking right now.

If you want to go but those dates don't work please let me know.

Cost will vary depending on if it's indoor/outdoor and where we play, for how long, and how trigger happy you are. On average with equipment rental, paint, field fee its around $40-80 per person

So far the one option I've found that looks nice is a course in Buffalo, could make a day of it, cook out and what not.

http://www.specialforcespaintball.com

As an example we could get 4 hours of play (that's all 3 of there courses plus a couple 'scenario' type events) Gun and Mask rental, unlimited air, and 800 paintballs per person for around $70/person...drop that to 3 hours and its $55/person. Extra paint at that course is $12/500

I'm still researching other options and will post more as I come across them.

Anyway please post up if you would be interested in going, or if you have questions / suggestions.

We would need 8-10 people to make this work.

One thing to ask.... other than initial buy in, are any of these places going to force you do buy range paint? Generally speaking you can find cases of it a LOT cheaper elsewhere... but a lot of places force you to use their stuff.

A lot of the places require you to buy range paint. The one I'm looking at in Buffalo (which I posted the exampe of) has very resonable prices for paint ($50/2000), some places are around $80-90.

So it's going to depend on where we go. I'm trying to keep it in the $40-80 range per person (depending on # of hours), with around 200-250rds/hr included, if you need more paint then that would be your expense.

Sounds like fun... link to this place your thinking of? 3 Courses seems pretty small. The place I mentioned in New Ulm (long drive, I know) had like 10 courses. A few in the woods, a couple grass ones with crates/pallets and a couple "speedball" with those inflatable obstacles. I think outdoor would be a lot more fun than indoor also.

Link posted in the OP to the place in Buffalo.

I'm going to spend some time hopefully tonight, and after I get back from camping, looking to see what all our options are. I'm looking at Cost (course+rental), Cost of Paint, Location, and course all together.

Well, their website was generally unhelpful for finding out anything about their courses :( The big game looks pretty amazing though.

Also, here is a link to the site for the place I've been... http://www.tommygunspaintwars.com/news.php

Looks like their end of the year special is Sept 13-14. $5 gets you on all 7 courses all day, free rental and 100 balls. More paint is available.

As I've said, I've been there and it seems like a pretty well run place and the courses are fun.

I'm game al long as it's not humid out and it's not fucking speedball shit. I played a lot in my early 20s and the worst was keeping balls the right temp. And I am only game for outdoor, woodsy shit, that indoor crap is a joke.

I'll take a look at that Dan. I thought it would be cool to have a 'group' event so we aren't playing with/against other goofballs but we could possibly do that. The reviews I read about the place in Buffalo sounded pretty good, they don't have as many individual coruses but it sounds like they do a lot of cool things similar to the big game. And yes, their website fails lol

I am shooting for the end of Sept. as it's usually a little cooler out. I'm going to keep looking at different options, I'd like to keep it reasonably close to the metro but if we find a great deal elsewhere we can explore that.

There is a place in Ramsey that is ok. They have some big courses outside, but nothing with true wooded areas. They also have some outdoor setups with the inflatable stuff.

I may contact that course in Ramsey and see what kind of rates they have, but I wasn't all that impressed with it when I was there a while back, it was 'okay' but I think we could do better. I know there are 2-3 courses up in Hinckley also, I may check on those.

If anyone wants to buy a Tippman 98 let me know. I don't play anymore.

Yeah, New Ulm would be a haul, but $5 for as long as you want is pretty ridiculous cheap. When I went before, it had rained all night before and there were still people out there, we had a group of 8-9 and we mostly played by ourselves. We had a couple people join us, but it wasn't required.

I'm game for anything. If it's speedball I want a NICE tournament-style field with nice inflatable bunkers. If it's woodsball it needs to be in a wooded area, not a grassy field. If it's not outside it's not paintball. :)

Oh man, I cant wait to shoot your ass as you run through the "woods."

Yeah, that place looks pretty good. It sounds like if your do a reserve group you can only be on one field though. I wonder if that's correct. I'd be nice to be able to try out all the fields.

HOnestly, getting to all the fields can be a PITA at some places. Get one nice wooded area, mix the game "type" up, and call it done. That we we waren't moving shit around all the time.

QFT- plus with one field... you can learn your territory more. Put a lot more strategy in it.

What do you mean getting to all the fields and moving shit? I'm confused... We go to one place and play whatever courses they have set up.

It's not like you stand in the middle and a new field is there to play every 50 feet. From what I've seen, some of these fields are a bit apart.

Either way, I'm in unless speedball is involved, it's a horseshit paint wasting game that I won't spend my $$ on.
