Just get a Cobb SRI, its cheaper and youll get the same gains. Unless youre warranty paranoid then go with Mazdas stuff.

well i talked to someone with a ms cai and they said hey used it as a sri in the winter and cai in the summer. so i can get the best of both worlds. its just semi worrying that mazda has ceased sales of the cai, rumor is some are throwing a lean cel and there is a ecu flash coming for it. then the same cai will be back for sale.....

I've never heard that^^...

I guess if you're curious I'd point you to ron tonkin mazda, they're a sponsor at the mazda3forums, Josh is his name, he'll point you in the right direction...

workdawg - yup i was reading those and seems the rumor is carb has to be renewed but the other rumor is they want to fix the lean cel some people are having.

I search for anyone with cobb sri and cel, couldnt find anything so I think for now ill go cobb.

I am still wondering about the MS cbe though..anyone on that?

Yea, I don't think, being in Minnesota, you need to worry about CARB. No emission checks, no worries.

i have never heard of that either. i dont think a CAI would throw a CEL for being lean. maybe a FMIC, then i could see it.

Well, on the non-speed 3's, the MAFS was notoriously picky about having just the right pipe diameter at the sensor, and just the right placement within that pipe, or else it was not able to correctly meter the airflow. Unlike the MSP, which has it's MAF sensor enclosed in an integral housing, the 3's MAFS just plugs into a hole in the intake piping.

Several intakes had that problem actually... Simota's SRI went through 3 versions just to get things right. I could see improper intake design at, and directly upstream of, the MAFS being a sticky point unless you get it just right.

I hear the best intakes to get have the air straightner section, cobb sri and the cbe cia? ( i think) if you see dyno's of them they have a smoother line, while the ms cai seems to be more jaggy. this is just from what ive read and looked up. but im going to get the cobb as i havent heard of anyone getting a cel from it and see what mazda says/does about the cai for the 2008+

I'm pretty sure now matter how many "turbonators" one manufacturer puts in their sri/cai its not going to make a big difference, it all goes in to the turbo one way or another. If I were you I'd just go get the cobb sri, since hydrolock sucks and if you're really worried about warranty its easy to swap stock and sri... Plus the cobb is cheap, like $130, right?

Well, MAP is a sponsor here, and they have it for $175, and you can probably just go pick it up. Though I suppose then you have to pay tax. Maybe they can cut ya some kind of deal for that.

Dan, shoot Bill @ MAP a PM. They might be able to cut you a bit of a deal if you contact them through the site.

They might even work a group pricing if a couple people want one.

Eventually... I don't even get my car for a few weeks though. I suppose if a small group buy was required to get a better deal I could spring for one.

I would suggest contacting MAP Parnell, as Jay suggested. You can tell them that you have another person(me) interested as well if they would be willing to get you a better price than SU.
