JT's C5 Z06

Yeah, they churn out some incredible stuff. I've heard nothing but great things, and Randy has been incredibly helpful along the way.

Hell, he even took my friend and I out for lunch after I dropped the car off. His treat. How many shops do that? That alone spoke volumes to me, and I headed home knowing my car was in good hands.

I'M OFFENDED!
After I saw a copper Z06 that Rippie had built DESTROY an autox out in Amery, and then run 140mph traps in 100 degree heat from a slow rolling start, i KNEW they were good.

The exhaust is all on, but no pretty pics of it :(

Just got a shot of the headers and those beautiful collectors:

Wednesday, April 20th - Just got word the install is done! She's heading to the dyno as I'm typing this. I'll post numbers ASAP.

Shitty OEM yellows:

Comp 921 dual valve springs and headers installed:

Onwards to the dyno!

I'm hoping I can dyno at MAP soon and get an overlay of the new graph on top of my old one to see where the cam really shines. I have a good feeling from 3500rpm on it's going to be a steep climb.

From what you'd said about the cam before, and my limited knowledge on LT headers, i'd be willing to bet you were right. Gonna have it in time for b4b?

If I can't get it tonight I'll likely be getting it on Saturday morning and head to MAP afterwards.

Well with the intake (which doesn't show up on the rollers) and the Borla axleback I was at 360whp/355 on a dynojet.

Figure it's around 350-355whp / 350 wtq. stock so some very nice gains, but I'm more interested in seeing the new powerband and where that power picks up.

Thursday, April 21st - Final numbers are in - 427 whp / 394 wtq!!! They were kind enough to port my throttlebody (I think for free) which helped squeeze out a bit more power. I'll be picking it up here in a few hours (going to try and snag a dyno sheet too) and it'll be at Boost for Boobies Saturday afternoon! Video to come tomorrow :D

There hasn't been great weather to really rip on this thing yet, but so far it feels like an entirely new car. As soon as you start the car, it feels like it has the power to back up the looks. It shakes your entire body. It's like stepping in Michael J. Fox's shoes when you want to. In normal driving it's quite tame and drives just like stock. Currently, there's a bit more jerkiness and stutter when you take your foot off the gas in gear, but I'm hoping it's something my tuner can tweak. Getting on it, it's incredibly responsive. I figured there would be a bit of lag, but really it's instant power and it just keeps climbing. Right around 3k it starts unleashing and really opens up. It's an incredibly addicting sound and it just keeps getting more and more glorious as you climb the powerband. It pulls like a raped ape from 5k to redline. It simply is...incredible.

I'm having some idling issues and I really hope my tuner can get that nailed down. Sometimes it fires right up, other times it just will not crank over. I've tried giving it a bit of gas then letting it find the idle and it just won't do it and will die. It's incredibly frustrating and this is something I need to address very soon as I can't chance that sort of unreliability. It's done it twice to me so far. I don't know if it's not getting enough compression, or really why it's so sporadic. It's not throwing any CELs so it's gotta be something that can be tweaked in the ECU's idling tables.

Awesome JT. It's gotta be a friggin blast for sure. I hope some tuning resolves the idling issues.

Although not really relevant, curious if any of these mods effect gas mileage - for better or worse? Stock, the Vettes get real good gas mileage (road trip) given the type of vehicle it is.

Just thinking of $4-5+/gal is probably not out of the question in the very near future.

its a corvette- gas mileage is towards the bottom of the list of things to worry about! Going fast and looking and sounding good, and having the car you have always wanted are at the top of the list! Sounds mean, cant beat a V8 with a cam just idling at a stop light!
But yea i agree gas prices are really starting to kill of car guys! i got a buddy building up an old low rider Plymouth pick up truck and hes gonna put a v6 in it just so he can afford to drive it!

It'll take me awhile to compare more fairly...my right foot is very heavy when I'm in that car now. Technically it should go down 1-3 mpg maximum, but I'm still on stock injectors and gears so it shouldn't have much of a negative effect.

I paid $3.92 for 87 for the 'bird today...this is getting pretty ridiculous.

I understand the type of car it is, was just curious that's all. Yep $3.97 today, just lovely. I suppose when the govt says it wants to see $8/gl, we don't have much chance.

We can easily be dependent on ourselves instead of other nations. Utah is ready for production and they alone have 30-50 years of supply, not to mention Alaska, Texas, and the areas we own in the Gulf. All of them are ready to produce, they just need to go-ahead from Obama. Guess where he said we're going to get our supply from in his State of the Union? Brazil. Sense? It makes none.

Going off on a major tangent here... but just because we can make it ourselves doesn't mean it's going to be any cheaper. (Evidence any other manufacturing sector) And the refining costs of crude pumped from different regions of the world vary by quite a lot.
