A boost gauge before replacing BPV?

Looking for opinions again. Getting the last part I need to install my HKS SSQV and was wondering what the reasons are to have a boost gauge before replacing. Wondering what problems may creep up from replacing it, like compressor surge? (is that the right term?)

Whatcha think?

I'M OFFENDED!
You shouldn't see too much of a problem with compressor surge as it were.... what a lot of people have been finding out is that the stock BPV on the DISI leaks like a sieve, so they're seeing higher boost spikes due to the car "compensating" for the leaky POS, and not realizing that the new one doesn't suck.

Really the only reason you'd want to get a boost gauge installed before your BPV is to visually see the difference between boost pressures from the stock to aftermarket one. That way, you can see if the stocker leaked, and be happy the new one doesn't. It's a nice thing to have anyway...

If you do see boost spikes with the new one, drive around for awhile, let the ECU re-calibrate and it should be fine with some miles on it.
