I really like it. Especially the arc reactor headlights ha. I'd love to have one and mazdaspeed it out. It could just look more aggressive. Like the shinari concept was. It just looks like a second gen 6 and an audi mated. lol. Not that it's a bad thing.

ick, sorry, so much better out there visually and performace wise for the $ they will ask. I'm so fucking done with Mazda cars till they get some balls and bring something like their Shinari cocept to the market. That car would make me impulse buy like mad. Now I just can't wait to get the wife's car back to Morries, hand the keys over, and kiss the ground on my way out. /rant lol

AJ,

I feel your pain. But this car should be equipped with 2 engine options. The 2.5Skyactiv with awesome MPG, and the 2.0 Turbo Diesel 308ft/lbs of torque at about 180hp. These are all rough estimates, confirmation on performance #'s will be in the spring. NO V6 will be available for the 6... which is kind of a bummer. I loved their latest V6, if only it were a 6sp manual.

The automotive market now is a well balance car with great fuel economy.

The 6 looks very sharp, now, the new 3 will look more aggressive and sportier as well. They're slowly getting away from that 'smiley' front facia.

Hmm. I didn't really feel the front fascia on the CX-5 and I'm not a fan on the 6 either. A little scared to see what happens to the 3 now. It's been kind of disappointing to me because the first gen 3 and 6 were the first economy level cars in some time where I had found myself saying "I really really want one". The second gen 6 lost me when it started moving towards a ho-hum midsize sedan (a la camry/accord), and it took me awhile to even warm up to the second gen 3 even though it was mainly a visual refresh.

This sounds kind of weird, but I think the new CX-5 and 6 look more like American cars instead of Japanese cars in terms of styling.

In some ways, I suspect Mazda is in "paranoid mode" from being burned so bad with the smiley fascias, so they're trying to go to the opposite end with the aggressive look.

Danny, have you seen anything official from Mazda regarding the 2014 Mazda 2's? I've been hearing here and there that the 2013's may be the last year for them in the US.

I can't say I really like the looks at all...I agree...1st gen was the best looking in my opinion and the last gen just kind of went blah. I like both gens of the 3 personally. Same with the CX-5, I like it.

But when I now hear diesel, it makes me want to learn more about the new 6. Not that I would buy one, but that's something I wish the US would do more of, I like the idea of the VW TDI, but I will not buy a VW due to expenses associated with ownership...I'm a poor person trying to make it in this world. Something other than German with a diesel option would be nice to see for once, but preferably in a compact sized car.

I'M OFFENDED!
Diesel, and those looks? I'm quite interested. I can't wait to see one in person.

MAD LIGHTS YO
So the 3g 6 is going to weigh similar to a 1g v6 6 with an i4 and less rated power at the motor. No thanks.

I really like the way the interior and rear end of the new car look, but the CX-5 front end does nothing for me. The diesel engine piques my interest quite a bit. Now I'm looking forward to the next gen CX-9. I think the CX-5 looks pretty decent (haven't driven one), so if the new CX-9 looks similar (is anyone thinking otherwise?) AND they throw a diesel in it, I'll definitely be in for a test drive. As for this family-sized sedan with a truck nose on it.......no thanks.

The more I look at it, the more disapoint i become. It just blows that mazda went from this

to this

It doesn't seem like a big difference but it's noticable, and the concept version looks so much better IMO. I could care less what engine is in it. I'm not a diesel kinda guy, and the I4 will be the same as the new CX-5, which I drove - although it gets pretty good gas milage on the freeway, but the car is so underpowered that in the city you have to use all of the power to get anywhere, which means you don't get good gas milage. So not a powerful and fun engine, and also not extremely economic... no thanks. On top of that, it will likely be overpriced once you equip any of the good options. I would really hope that they make a mazdaspeed version, but we all know the odds of that are slim to none.

The more and more I look at it, the more it grows on me. Many have said the Gen1 3 and 6 were the best looking to the others and I would have to agree. In comparison to Gen1 and Gen2 of the Mazda5, I would have to say the Gen1 mz5 looked a lot better as well. IMO, once they went to the more flowing wavy design, they lost me. Like I said though, this new 6 is growing on me. I am already envisioning a wheel swap.

Quite a few manufacturers were set to introduce diesels to the US markets in the mid 2000s. But, when the US govt slapped new regulations on new diesel engines on model years 2007 and on, quite a few of the manufacturers couldn't meet the new regulations, so they delayed the engines and are starting to look at them again.

Diesel, and those looks? I'm quite interested. I can't wait to see one in person.
I would like to see what other options and price point this comes in at. The wagon with a diesel and a manual intrigues me quite a bit. Wonder if it will be a FWD or if there is an AWD option as well. I am highly interested though.

The new 3 actually looks very awesome! Very sporty looking and completely different from the skyactiv 'look'. I'm not allowed to divulge in the details of the 3 since it's not officially out for 'spy' photos yet. But a few of us here have seen it :) it'll be sweet!

The Rumor mill about the Mazda 2's is that mazda is thinking of making a Mazdaspeed 2. They will always keep this car around as its a perfect car for its class. And its a top seller in other markets as well.

I see a compact car similar to the CX5 on the horizon. Let's face it, the compact car styling has been lacking due to just trying to pump these out as fast and cheap as possible. The Genpu is blah, the sedan of the Gen1 are meh, as are with many of the other manufacturer's cars. They just aren't doing it for me. Now the styling of the 6 is pretty good. Go with that with a 3 hatch and sedan, I think it would look pretty decent.

I still think the back end could be much better. If I cover the rear of the side profile it looks great. Cover the front... looks like a gen 2...

Any idea if Mazda is going to try to do another speed6? I'd be WAY more interested in a speed2 due to price and size, but I've been wondering why they axed the speed6...too lazy to read articles.
