Ok, My brother has an '03 miata and of course people that are dumb are making fun of him, well thankfully they are only 13sec cars so I plan on building a turbo kit or some other power mods for him.

I need to know how much a miata engine can handle stock, reliably too.

Thanks

Honestly, I'd take that question to a miata club. Unfortunately, we have almost no miata folks on here, so you're not likely to get a good answer... but that year still uses the 1.8L BP which is a solid motor. I want to say that as a reliable daily driver, 220 or so would be your top end. Probably 250-275 if you did it right and weren't concerned about blowing the thing up.

Ok, you know what it comes with stock?
Car should be getting a NOS direct port kit, research shows start at 50, 75 is safe.

Hmm, 03... the MSM? No idea. If it's the BP, you're looking at 300 before things start breaking, unless you drive it real nice-like.

MSM stock is ~170hp, N/A NB is something like 140. Anything after 220 gets increasingly difficult to manage. ;)

110 HP of FURY!
That would rip the miata apart, the LS6 would be scary enough. lol if I do a miata yet, it will be a LS6.

Yup. He used a Flying Miata turbo kit but has a standalone ECU IIRC.

In talking with him, he said that the turbo on the Miata gives it about all the power he would want out of it. They are light cars and I'm sure the problem isn't "How much horsepower can I make?" but more "How much power can i get to the ground and still keep traction?"

I've run my '95 for 7 years at 13# boost and around 230whp. Handles that just fine. You will get the same power at a lower boost level on a 2003. Visit the Flyin Miata website.
