/wave!

Last Saturday I picked up a 2010 Velocity Red Mazdaspeed3. I figured I better meet the Mazda pros of Minnesnowda. I will have to take some pictures of it but so far, I have been nothing but impressed with the way this car drives. Mazda really has put a wonderful product out in the MS3.

Nice to meet you all!

The Cobb SRI and all the BPV's for the '07-09 work for the 2010 MS3 so get your mod on!!

welcome. first 2010 on the site?!
I think so.

Chrono, if you're in the metro area, we have weekly meets at Porky's Drive-In in St. Paul on Wednesdays. Most folks show up around 6ish and hang out for a few hours.

Kinda depends on the dealer. Walser's been accommodating to all of my mods, and I'm fully bolted. Eitherway, if you return it to stock before you go in you won't have a problem. It takes ten minutes to swap out the intake/BPV if need be.

Now have you had any issues with switching to a BPV? I remember doing this to my SRT-4 and always had a hard time tuning it to not flutter.

Also, I have heard that the ECU might be thrown off by not recirculating the boost. Any truth to this?

Lastly, in Cali, it was illegal to use a BPV due to emisions (LOL...how dare I spew Air into the.....air). Is this the same for MN?

Thanks for the info!

We do not have emissions testing at all here. We also do not have the government-Mafia shakedown organization known as CARB to outlaw mods.

A BPV by definition recirculates the air, so they are a direct swap for the OEM piece--only difference is it doesn't leak boost like a sieve.

Depends on the valve - run the right shim & spring for the Forge and you're fine, I've heard of slight fluttering with the HKS SSQV, but I've never gotten, nor heard any sort of issue with the Synapse.

Yep, definitely keep it recirculating - not good to vent away metered air - you'll run rich, and more importantly it'll run like crap. Trust me, I've tried it. There's no way to tune it out on stock ECU.

No emissions in MN - so go nuts here!

edit: god dammit quit typing faster than me!!
