I will say it flat out. The troops are no heros. Everybody is in this dream world that our military are these good guys and heros. We are just as bad if not worse than the terrorists that we are fighting. I am disgusted. And no it's not just because of this puppy tossing thing. Time after time when you see what we are doing over there it's not good look at the whole prison torture and weird sexual positions thing they were doing. There are other vids of troops taunting little kids with a water bottle. I am not proud to be an american and quite frankly I can see exactly why other countries hate us.

If the worst thing they're doing is taunting a kid with a water bottle (and in the video I saw, the kids were laughing and playing like it was a game) and screwing with some prisoners by taking pictures of them in simulated sex acts, then worse shit happens among high school kids.
We're talking about 18, 19, 20 year old men and women spending years at a time in some of the absolute shittiest conditions I can imagine. If they need to blow off a little steam now and again, I think they're entitled to a bit of that.

Well I doubt that is the worst they are doing. It's like rats when you see one in oyur house there are probly about 20 more you didn't see. And torturing isn't bad!? give me a break. How can it get much worse than frying someones genitals with electrodes?

I wouldn't go as far as Roids, but I agree with his point. Just because someone is in the military, shouldn't make them, in everyone’s eyes, a completely morally outstanding person. The act of joining the military is honorable, and in my mind, anyone who has SERVED, not worked, in Iraq is a hero to me, in spite of underlying character flaws.
I think too much clout is give too that capture building abilities of the military, I think it is more factors of unused ability and education that lead to development of character.
My impressions of the military is that maintaining reputation in more important then uncovering instances like this, whether real or fake. It isn't till light is brought from outside that large efforts are made to correct actions that I consider disrespectful to what it means to be an American.

I've got to agree with Roids on this. As a whole, what we are doing in Iraq is less than perfect. I cannot fault the soldiers, they're doing their jobs. And if I were in the situation they are, i'd probably go fucking bonkers too. We can't blame them for being forced into a horribly misguided war, we gotta look to who started the shit for that.

We went out to the middle east to get Osama. We end up with Saddam and a mess in Iraq that really didn't need to be started, and now it's out of control.

I have never led a multi trillion dollar country so I will not speak of the reason we are fighting in Iraq.

That's how America did it. We are not, and should not be the world’s police. You can't give democracy to a people that have no understanding of its underlying values. I don't see how starting a war in a foreign country with no planning of the aftermath is helping those people. And its funny, of all the tyrannical leaders and oppressed people in this world, we just happen to choose the country with the second largest reserves of oil. It shouldn't be forgotten that, outside of civil wars, very few wars are ever fought over issues that don't, in the end, boil down to economic issues.

First you are wrong when you say we didn’t get help. The French helped us and so did the Spanish. That is only with the revolution they helped. With our civil war there was less help.
But there is only one reason for war and that is economic. Every single war has been one place/person trying to better there way of life. So that is the only reason for war.
