Post up your favorite TV series, and maybe a bit about why you liked them

I just finished watching Deadwood a while ago, and I'm almost through the last couple episodes of Rome. I can't vouch too much for the historical accuracy of either, but they are both great shows that really drew me in. I'm kind of glad that they were only 2 seasons long, though. Seems like a lot of other similar series (The Sopranos, Nip/Tuck, almost anything on network TV) really gets bogged down and contrived by the end of the 3rd season or so. Seems like they have to try too hard at that point or something.

Anyone here watched Entourage? I've been impressed with the HBO stuff so far, but the premise of that show doesn't do much for me....

Charge THIS!!
MythBusters - favorite episode is where they vaporize a cement truck. love the sound of that explosion!
A Haunting - a mild fascination with the paranormal
CSI:Miami - most people i know can't stand to watch Miami because of David Caruso's character. I watch for Emily Procter and Eva LaRue. Plus i try to follow the current storylines as well.
Futurama anything by Groening is good!
Family Guy - in moderation
Simpsons - the show that paved the way for all prime time animation to come
Robot Chicken - funny shyt
Ghost Hunters - see 'A Haunting'
Cold Case Files - interesting fascination with true crime stories and unsolved murders
Dirty Jobs - Mike Rowe is a funny bastard, and some of those jobs i scratch my head

I will also sit down to watch the occasional Comedy Central show (south park or a comedian/comedienne), as well as anything that piques my interest on TLC/Discovery/History/A&E/truLife (formerly CourtTv). I don't really watch network television that much unless there is a football game or Sports Car race on.

I'm really into the CSI thing right now, as I am on season 3 of the original CSI. I'm more into the TV series that have a few years of content behind them. This is why I don't watch much current TV series, more so reallity TV if anything.

I am also hooked on HBO's "The Wire". I think it's a great show and I have a friend at work who also watched it, although only the last two seasons. I'm on season 2 and he's borrowed season 1 from me. He said it's taken a major turn somewhere and they are nothing alike. And that's what gets me interested.

With that said, some that I've watch are:

24
Lost
the OC (Watched with the wife, but the girls are hot!)
The Wire
CSI
Law and Order SVU

And I'm happy to say I'm have a first year DVD series from 1982 ordered up. Cheers! I can't wait to start watching those all over again.

Older:

-Seinfeld - too obvious to need explanation
-Arrested Development - Great show with great characters and a fresh sense of humor.
-X-files - First 5 seasons are rock solid. Last 3 waned quickly.
-Curb Your Enthusiasm - Not as good as Seinfeld, but still very funny.
-Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Don't laugh until you've watched it. Great writing and vampires always kick ass. It was on for eight years for a reason. (Plus it had Charisma Carpenter, Eliza Dushku, among others)

Newer:
-Heroes - Good first season, but the second season was losing me a bit.
-Lost - Best written, acted, and directed show on television. Hands down.

My favorite show is The Shield on FX. I also enjoy House, Bones, and Prison Break.

Monk and Psyche are pretty good on USA also.

I'M OFFENDED!
The Shield was rock solid, I need to get the last season on DVD.

Obviously, Futurama, Simpsons FG, Robot Chicken....

Bout the only modern shows I watch anymore are Jail, Street Patrol, Cops, WWE, and American Gladiators.

I forgot Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis aswell. Love those shows. I don't watch them on TV, but download them to watch.

I watched a marathon of Firefly yesterday (4-5 episodes) and it was pretty good. A couple of my good friends are really into it, but I never watched it before then. I might have to start downloading that.

The Shield is my fav by far. I have all the DVDs out so far (1-5, 6 isnt out quite yet).

The Shield is quite good, I liked 24 too. I started watching Deadwood as some peeps at work reccomended it, I'm not usually into the western type thing but it's a pretty good show so far.

I'll be the first to suggest Herman Street.com for those looking to buy seasons. Solid selection with Target & Wal-Mart prices usually.

Check out Deepdiscountdvd.com they usually have some pretty killer prices on DVDs including Box Sets, if you watch slickdeals.net and fatwallet.com in the hot deals forums they post coupon codes now and again which makes their prices even better.
