This idea has been tossed around a few times, and in my opinion, it's about time to make it happen. The idea of course, is a cruise to the Leinenkugel's brewery in Chippewa Falls, WI (www.leinie.com) for a tour and a little bit of beer sampling. Now, as it has been noted eariler, the tour is only about 40 minutes long, and the sampling consists of only a couple small glasses of the most popular brews, so this event is more about the drive than the destination-though Leinies is a popular brew among this crowd so maybe you can eek some sentimental value out of the trip, lol! As it's also been discussed, the google maps route to chippewa falls is not very exciting. But I have it on good authority that bombing the right backroads on the way would be an absolute blast. To enhance the drive further, I'm thinking this would take place on, say, the second weekend in october so we can enjoy some fall colors.

So, to recap.....

What: Cruise to Lenie's brewery (~2-3hrs each way) followed by a tour and some grub.

Where: Twin Cities, MN to Chippewa Falls, WI (route to be discussed)

When: Saturday, October 11th, 8:30am departure time; 2:30 pm brewery tour in Chippewa Falls

Why: To bomb Dans mom and hit some backroad twisties and check out a brewery


We will meet up and leave AT 8:30, so be there early at:

Itinerary
8:30am - Depart from Cottage Grove
11:30-12:30 - Arrive in Chippewa Falls
12:30-2:00 - Lunch and kill some time before the tour
2:30-3:30 - Brewery tour
Hit up the tower place that YSOSLO recommended outside fo Elk Mound
Head home (people taking I-94 back should expect ~90 minute drive, those taking the scenic route can expect 2.5-3 hours)

I approve of this event! Sounds like a good time, I've got another trip that'll be happening in October, not sure of the date yet. As long as that doesn't interfere I'll be in.

I think that's enough votes to get this thing rolling. Unless I hear objections in the next few days, I'm going to cement it at Oct 11.

If you can commit 90% to this, please post up so I can get an attendance list going and get an idea how large of a tour group I should make reservations for.

I want to get a tentative route planned out before we move it to the planned section. Personally, I'm in no matter what route we take. I've been casually scouting for some windy county roads that will get us there without too huge of a detour, but I haven't found anything solid yet.

Anyone? Jaeger? Anyone?
