He is at it again!
I found the ad posted on Craigslist

This appears to be the same, slightly rehashed, scam.
Here is the email thread so far:
Matias Kendall - to me
(it looks like he headed your suggestion and made sure that his email matched his signature)
Good day,
First of all I'm very glad you like my car. It runs and looks just great.
It has no flaws or dents, no leaks and never had an accident. I have its clear title in hand and it's registered in Lexington, Kentucky. I serve the US Marine Corps and I'm stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola. I won't be able to leave the base until October, so I will have the car shipped to you at my expense because I benefit of various discounts.
I will pay the shipping fees and the insurance of the car.
All documents will be provided to you along with the car including the bill of sale on your name.
The price is so low because I really need money for personal reasons.
I'm a serious seller and I prefer to deal only with a serious buyer who understands my situation.
Anyway, I must remind you that I want a fast deal because I need the money as soon as possible and that is also the reason why I am selling it at a very low price... so if you are really interested in buying it, please reply. The final price is $4600.
I will wait for your email, so that we can move forward with this deal.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
V/R

I was pretty suspicious, but I figured I would pursue it a bit further...
Matias,
Thank you for your response. I am very interested. I will call my bank and make arrangements tomorrow for the financial portion. Can you please forward me the VIN? This is one of the first pieces of information that the bank will ask for.
Do you have someone who can show the car? I would like to have someone take a look at it. I feel a bit odd about buying a car that I have never seen in person.
I think we can complete the transaction very quickly so that you get the money that you need. It sounds like this will be a great win/win situation.
Thank you for your service in the Marine Corps, my family and I appreciate your contribution to the protection of our quality of life.
Best Regards,
Cameron
This is where he might as well have just typed, "I am a douche. This is a scam." :wank:
I leased this vehicle new in 1994, bought out the lease three years later and have owned it ever since. But for the stereo (Sony Xplod) and tires (Bridgestone Potenza S-O3s with maybe 2000 miles on them), it is all stock (most original) and has been treated well. It spent the first few years outside, the next few years outside with a nice cover (that's what's in the trunk in the pics and it conveys) and since then has spent most of it's time in the parking garage at work when I wasn't using it on nice days to commute.
It had a major service done last year and just the other day had a 12,000 mile service performed and a Virginia safety inspection. Everything works great.
It has a tan leather interior, A/C, power locks and windows, a sunroof and cruise control.
This is the VIN: JM1FD3331R0302447 .
I hate to let it go but I don't have any other choice.
A few minor things to note:
Windshield wiper arms are rusty. (See pics.) They got that way a long time ago and work great, just kind of unsightly. I've not noticed anything like that anywhere else on the car.
Clean title and clean CarFax.
That's it. It drives beautifully, it's fast and it handles great.

Feel free to e-mail me any questions.
The car will be shipped on my expense from Lexington, Kentucky and will be at your door in 3 days tops.
If you want to continue, please send me your full name and your shipping address so that I will let eBay Protection Program know that you are interested. You will receive an email from them instructing you how to send the payment. The money will be kept by them and you will only release the funds to me if you decide to keep the car (after receiving and inspecting it). I think this is a fair way to make business and I hope that you will agree.
The most important thing in all my activity here is that I am affiliated to eBay's Protection program, and I have a a purchase protection account for 5000$ and i assume you know what this means. In case we close this deal, you are protected by eBay's Protection Program:
1) In case you do not receive the car exactly as I have described it to you or you do not receive it at all, eBay will give you a full refund of the amount that you have paid the eBay agent, although this is not the case.
2) You will send the money to eBay Protection Program and I will get a notification to ship the car. After you receive and see that the car is the one you want, you just notify eBay to forward me the payment details in order for me to pick up my money.
Let me know if this is OK with so we can move forward with this deal!
Also please write me what you decide because i have a few possible buyers.
I decided to play along...
I will take it. I have never seen eBay act as an escrow agent for a transaction that was not made on eBay. So if there are problems with that, we can complete the transaction via my bank.
Please feel free to contact me at 503-###-#### to work out the details and complete the transaction.
I look forward to driving the car soon.
Thanks,
Cameron
I'm not really sure this should even be called a scam...Could anyone have ever been dumb enough to fall for this?
