$7k...hrmmm...
Well Cobb's getting new hardparts, which means their FMIC will be available again. It was the best one. I'd go that route.
Stick with the Cobb SRI and TIP.
CP-e is releasing a full turbo kit fairly soon - keep an eye out for it as it'll come with an exhaust mani, downpipe, turbo, etc.
If you do go aftermarket turbo, your only viable and safe tuning option is the CP-e standback. In due time, they'll have a full standalone tuning solution available too, so again, keep an eye out for that too.
You'll also need fuel. I'd recommend KMD fuel pump internals for the cheapest route, or CP-e's full fuel pump as the most expensive, but safest alternative.
Many people have run aftermarket turbos on stock block, clutch, and transmission. I'm a firm believer now, that it's all in the tune, the way you drive, environmental conditions, etc. Watch your PID's and you'll be fine.
To reference that, here's an MS6 (remember, AWD = more drivetrain loss, and this guy's at 5,500 ASL) with I think a GT3076, tuned with a CP-e standback:
Cobb's AP won't get near those numbers...stick with CP-e for tuning, and you'll have a solid set up.
What's your timeframe? We can help as best we can, but prepare for a hefty chunk of change spent and budget for a daily driver, especially for winter.
